That has absolutely happened to me several times. My controller binds uses the boost button as a shift button.

Why should they do that? It's a cross-promotion of NMS and ME, FDev has to do nothing with either, so they cannot do anything about it.

Aleksander MajjamNo Man's Sky is 100% the best example of turning a disastrous launch into something monumentally amazing. The myriad of updates/patches. All their large releases were free. It's seriously a whole different game from launch.
After that launch everything else would've probably killed it.

If FDev had put that ship into Elite, I wouldn't be happy about it. Would you? It's from a different game with a different lore.
I like NMS, but this is basically in-game advertising for Mass Effect. Striking a deal like that with EA could mean that they're in some sort of financial trouble.
