Elite: Odyssey

There was already a issue raised on the matter when I visited the issue tracker. So I added a comment that may help flag it being a common fault.
It's in FDev's hands now, it could help if more Cmdrs flag the issue.

Well, if it is for a friend I always prefer to get together in one instance and throw materials at them.

There's always the old fashioned way, of course

AguilarPowerplay 2 the new grind it’s not worth the effort.

Its not supposed to worth an effort its so players can stop skipping from one faction to another to collect modules
Youre supposed to pick a side and stick to it now that we have no reason to leave for prismatics etc.

It is worth, the grind is there but u have access to every unique weapons and modules. Before we were like: Oh i'll do nothing 4 weeks and get free item and repeat that 10 times which took long anywayz

My hot take (which really shouldn’t be one) is that the system was designed to reward long-term player engagement with it but because people want “the shinies” now and have no interest in Powerplay otherwise they all began shouting how it was “grind” and “takes too long”, yada yada.

I say this as someone thoroughly uninterested in the mode and what it offers, and thus would not play it even if there are “shinies” (that worked out great for those who were lured by Salvation’s carrot, did it not).

I am still avoiding that part of the game. 0 reasons to join any of the fractions.

In other words, ~3K ly travelled (actually 0, but 1 h spent) for nothing. OK, now I can feed 25 sensor fragments to almost useless engineer Palin, so he can crank few m/s out of my cartoon ship's thrusters. Can he?
At least I took few good photos of... photos.

BTW, is any of this https://canonn.science/codex/barnacle-forest/ still valid? It's 7 years old and the game had few major upgrades.
LOL, who gave them .science TLD?

Anybody got an idea on the base 'cold' level of the Mandalay?

At rest with only life support I jump between 14-16. But maybe cold mechanics have changed?

You mean the stock Mandalay? Just look at Edsy. If you are looking for an extreme cold build from which to elaborate, you can choose this one here, although I would not recommend flying it. A more feasibly exploration build with low thermals would be this one.

From my practical experience I can say, that these values do not matter too much because the Mandalay gets rid of heat very quickly anyway, and even with a more combat oriented (= hot) build, you have no problem e.g. charging the FSD while still close to a star.
