Elite: Odyssey

Question, on uninstalling/deleting Odyssey Alpha from my machine.

Do I use the Uninstall function from the game launcher Options menu? Or should I manually delete the OA files from my drive?

I don't want to delete the entire game, just the OA part.

I bought the game directly from Frontier.

I manually deleted the folder only.

The alpha could actually be uninstalled from the launcher, but when the test period ended, the associated launcher entry disappeared, so the only option was to delete the folder manually. The folder's name is PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER_OD.

If you see Odyssey in the launcher now, it's not the alpha but the release version. People reported in Frontier's forum that the entry appeared recently but is not yet functional.

Yup. I liked Frontier's reveal trailer, but it's fan-made stuff like this that's really selling the game. Just watching this gives me the itch.

But I'll wait anyway. This video makes the alpha look better than it actually was.

Of the three suits (or four, if you count the legacy Remlok underwear), Artemis really looks best in my opinion. I hope they'll offer a white version on the Arx store, without the orange parts. For a shiny Stormtrooper look.

Odd that I never deleted anything, yet doing a search in my Frontier section that folder isn't found & in fact, after doing a search in my PC, that folder isn't found there either.

It was a subfolder in my launcher folder.

Nope, not there under either E:D Launcher (Frontier & Epic). Maybe, since I gave up trying to play it after a couple of tries after the initial download, & never updating it, it got automatically removed. Searching my entire machine with the term PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER_OD & nothing, nada, zilch.

Kudos to Inara & its members, I also asked in the Elite Dangerous Community Discord channel & got NO response whatsoever.

Thanks for responding!

I tried playing it twice, after the initial download, & that went so badly, I never tried again. I never updated anything; that would have been the initial, original download, the Alpha of the Alpha.

This could mean that they've decided to split the universe and keep the old Horizons client around, at least until Odyssey gets stabilized and released on consoles. Interesting.
