I competed the mission but cannot turn it in. Perhaps it is because of that #DestinationSettlementName.... that should not be visible in the UI for sure.

I am not sure - we had such case during alpha but all panels were disabled. If you want to try it - first find the panel to turn off settlement alarms

Odyssey Renderer is broken

"I won't even mention the UI, which is rendered triangle by triangle in some parts.

In short, no wonder it's slow.

More investigation to follow. On my 3090 RTX, the best you can get, the FPS tanks inside the concourse. I'd like to profile what's going on there.

EDIT: I ran the same frame in Horizons and can confirm that the carrier is NOT rendered multiple times. Only the walls surrounding you are drawn. Additionally the depth pass for shadows is smaller, presumably culled properly."

At this point I would accept "We accidentally pushed it to production." as a reason for the horribad state of the game.

Probably nothing they won't be able to solve with adding more variety to the height/etc. maps/masks. The procedural terrain generation is certainly interesting, but it has its limits when you need to do that realtime, control it and also produce something closer to realism for an entire planet.

There wasn't anything wrong with what we had. Why couldn't they have just iterated the on foot stuff with what we had and worked off that... If they still wanted to do a graphics upgrade, great, make it optional and have a long running open beta alongside the odyssey release. And while they were at it, they should've added dx12 support.

This entire update is illogical, poorly designed, and was clearly rushed out the door.

That was probably the plan, but their rushed delivery apparently meant that they skipped entire phases of the design process.

I think they misread the saying as "If it's not broken, break it and then don't fix it."
