EpisparhI do not mind interiors as long as I have means to skip the entire mechanic. Currently the concourse is just a 3d menu with zero gameplay attached. So, I agree FDev daft arguments for ship interiors could be fully applied to concource.

The problem with station interiors is that those got promoted as "social zones" as well... which fail because there is no way to "socialize": You cannot get wasted at the bar with friends, you cannot sit down anywhere... hell, there's not even a basic "o7"-emote to greet another player.

The lack of any advanced social features in E:D itself is one of the main reasons why the game isn't more sucessful imho (apart from the obvious problems with the quality atm ofc).

If you want to do anything beyond basic stuff like chatting, you need a third party tool/website.

& that relates to a post I made not too long back, that E:D so heavily relies on 3rd-party sites (i.e., other peoples' work, for which they're not paid, at least, not by Frontier).

Ship interiors? Ship damage visibly portrayed? Actual interactive RP beyond simple basic chatting? Nope, Nope & Nope. "Personal Narrative" is supposedly expected to fill all that in... & is yet another cheap, lazy immersion-breaking excuse-aspect of the game.

I'm not quite ready to write off the expense I've already paid for EDH & EDO... but unless & until the FDevs get their fuggin' asses in gear, I can't recommend it to anyone else. At least, to no one I actually LIKE...

Meanwhile I still wonder if Sony and Microsoft would force Early Access label, because I don't think they want similar optimization failure on their platform.

Like I already said: Elite Dangerous having 60 fps without any major issues by default on Xbox Series S/X is a major leap in comparison to Xbox One (S) on which the game was... acceptable. The fact Odyssey can run below 20 fps on a gaming PC is a serious concern.

Looking at recent trends among Elite streamers and podcasters I'm getting the impression that Odyssey is the best thing that ever happened to Star Citizen.

So what does it take to increase ship Combat rank now? I've killed more than 100 Dangerous/Deadly/Elite ranked ships over the last several hours and still sitting at 0% in the progress bar. Is it restricted to CZ only now or some other nuance?

This should help explain this:

I doubt that is the case. I have 9% above elite and I haven't done any ship CZ. That progress comes from one Haz RES with my vulture (without synthesis - so it was very brief), one high RES (with imperial eagle with the new guardian shard Canon, a weapon test session) and few kills of ships that interdicted me.

This. Very true. All the community content creators are switching to Star Citizen as their Elite Dangerous videos no longer generate the viewers they used to so they need to broaden their scope, and Star Citizen is working for them. That said, I still feel like Elite Dangerous is a huge gold mine of a game that is just being left untapped.

Well, I'm not sure then. I spent about 4 hours in a High Res and had about 200 bounty vouchers according to the in-game codex. Most of the ships I killed were Dangerous or above so it seems odd to me that all of that was not even 1%.

Everything as before, but higher rank = more killing to reach next one. And I guess you have to play Odyssey, as rank progress beyond Elite may be impossible in Horizons. Haven't tested, though.

I'm wondering what awaits me on the Elite I combat rank. Would progress be limited to Master+ targets, or will remain Expert+ as with usual 'Elite'.

Which is quite a paradox, if a lack of satisfaction with Odyssey brought them to the unfinished, more limited and more broken game. I guess the novelty will wear off fast and then they will need to think about their choices again.
(But no disrespect to them or to the Star Citizen, I am quite looking forward to the finished game, too. When and if it will be ever finished. )

I think the issue here is that Star Citizen, even in its eternal alpha-state, already contains all the stuff people were hoping for to be included in Odyssey: Ship Interiors, stations being proper social zones, etc... its about sending a signal to FDev how wrong they got it and how to fix it.

I still think Yamik's "15 weird design choices"-video summarizes all these small details that piss people off quite well as a lot of times it is these details that make a fictional universe both believeable and enjoyable.

Unbelievably correct!

Doesn't change the fact that Star Citizen is still referred to as Scam Citizen and that makes me even more sad how FDev could screw something like that. They literally have NO competitor on the consoles for example (No Man's Sky isn't really a space sim in the first place).

Star Citizen's funding model is very... questionable, at least according to some organizations who are for customer protection.

I think this part comes mostly from the fact that back when it was still in the initial crowd funding, back in 2014, you could pre order a ship called the Javelin. It's a large destroyer class ship that cost about $2500. This ship is still unavailable for players to acquire. Partly because the max crew compliment for this ship is 80 players. And apparently you can't have that many players in 1 instance at a given moment. Let that sink in. You buy it during the initial crowd funding in 2014 for $2500. 7 years later, an object in a video game that you paid for is still unavailable for acquisition. That being said, while Star Citizen has been stuck in alpha all this time, it is not going unchanged. More and more content is being added. Cloud Imperium Games has around 600 staff working on this game. That's about as many people as Frontier employs in total, only they are all dedicated to a single game. While I do question some of the business practices, it is interesting to see how it is progressing.

That all said, I still feel like Elite Dangerous is (or was) a potential gold mine of a game that is just being left untapped.
