Elite: Odyssey

MeowersI wish they will all appear in the one of the streams and say altogether "Sorry, we're screwed. Please, don't go. We will fix it."

Not sure why the CMs should apologise for anything, or the devs for that matter.

One person made the decision to release the game in its unready state, and that was Braben.

I haven't played much nowadays and definitely I do not check cosmetics part daily. Usually just after a patch.

I didn't check either, but someone mentioned it here.

Ok, officially I hate "tipped off" conditions.

Here is what happened:
  1. Took mission to exterminate military settlement threat 5 (It happened to be anarchy one)
  2. As soon as I lift off, I got "Tipped off"
  3. Arrived and landed ship 3km away before they turn on alarms ( the threshold is ~2km but I had SRV)
  4. Closed with SRV to 1km and then disembarked with maverick g5 / Executioner and Tormentor g5 - I had to kill 22 NPCs
  5. Tried to identify NPC with access 1 or 2 but failed as there was just 2 with level 2 inside buildings.
  6. A random access 1 guard spotted me and this was reason for his death. Cloned his ID, but a distant guard was already starting alarms from cover.
  7. Remaining 18 NPCs headed to my direction accompanied by goliath and skimmer.
  8. Shield ON, and "leg it" to CMD building while the party followed.
  9. While inside I turned back to face my pursuers... After all of them were on the floor I was surprised to not see any of them had access 2+.
  10. Turned off alarms, went to PWR. 1 more NPC down but it was access 1. (Note to self: get e-breach next time to get the PR)
  11. Used terminal, to find the last 2 NPCs. Went to HAB and killed them, cloned access 2 and returned back to CMD to disable turrets.
  12. Decided to play with skimmer and goliath. After two full loads of my Executioner they were dead.
  13. Nothing more to do after looting key lockers and data ports as there was no access 3 and I couldn't turn off power.
  14. Headed back to SRV wondering how the Anaconda, Python , Crusader and 2 vipers will react to my ship.
  15. Boarded SRV, the ships immediately opened fire.... disembarked and they stopped.
  16. Decided to continue on foot to finish the "Leave the settlement" objective
  17. Recalled ship. The 5 angry ships attacked it. (Note to self: you do not need ship to touch the ground to dismiss it)
  18. My ship was destroyed and I decided to try APEX. It was destroyed. (Note to self: after you complete objective just relogski moron!)
  19. Paid rebuy of ship. I respawned to the main station in system as I haven't done any crime. Opened outfitting - Scarlet Krait.
  20. I was back on the body where I died. Took APEX and rejoined my ship in the station.

Hope you learned something from this story. Thanks for your time

I sure learned something. I will not be purchasing EDO for a very long time.

Yeah a lot of bugs and poor design decisions. From game prospective it is mostly pew pew. From explorer prospective it is some more landable planets with atmospheric overlay.

You better wait for some serious sale (like 70+% serious). Some of the new "goodies" will be forced down to Horizons with console release

You know, there usually is a panel in CMD which allows you to turn off security identification?

From aesthetics view it's a cheap glossy toy plastic in on-foot content. It looks little better than some indie FPS game made on Unity with standard-issue shaders, but gives your PC a hard and hot time. Space flight content... a bit worse than Horizons, but still playable.

Authentication scans are only for ze doors, dear
For power, alarms, turrets, authentications, synthesis, sample containment, etc. you need access or e-breach.

You can just ebreach the authentication panel and then switch it off.

I know how it works just my hundred e-breaches were a kilometer away in ze SRV. This was the reason for the "note to self"

I always thought that the mandatory NPC in PWR room have access 3 but in that particular case it was just 1.

Yeah I've has bases like that. If it has a CMD then you know where the panels will be. If it's in the IND or somewhere else you have a lot of cutting to do.

I try for PWR first (as like you say it usually gives you a level 3 key) and then hit the CMD.

Some bases are bugged and have no security panels so covery heist missions are impossible.

The general problem with "tipped off" settlement is that NPCs will be immediately aggressive if they see you. This is why I usually try to switch off alarms. To prevent the entire settlement heading to my position and have to deal with turrets and drones.

Without "tipped off" you can go inside to scout and let the guards scan you. As long as you do not have bounty/fine they will let you mind your own business. This in anarchy settlement also means that you can kill someone and as long as you are not spot while guards are alerted they won't be hostile to you.
