Elite: Odyssey

SakashiroOn-foot pew-pew is optional. It adds gameplay options without taking anything away

Well, yes and no. It's true that the existence of a dodgy FPS within E:D doesn't directly affect any of the other gameplay options, but the time spent developing it could (and IMO should) have been spent developing something else instead.

So in that sense, on-foot pew-pew did take something away, we just don't know what it might have been.

I know one thing that Odyssey didn't add...... I still can't buy my own Majestic or Farragut lol.

It seems FDev is pulling all the tricks to peddle Odyssey. For at least a week, a settlement that is only accessible in EDO (Vasilyev's Claim in Ross 692) has been selling meta-alloys at record low prices. You can resell these at a profit of almost 50,000 Cr per unit, and apparently the settlement has a large landing pad, too, making this the single most profitable trade in the game. And to make sure everyone knows about it, the settlement isn't properly flagged as EDO-only, so it appears in trade routes even if you filter out Odyssey settlements.

Pay to win, folks!

So I should be loading up my cargo Cutter and profit about 39 million per haul. Not bad. Not as profitable as Rackham's wine runs but that's more difficult to get to.

Wait, so if you're in Horizons you can see the settlement but it doesn't appear when you go to its location? Are you sure because things absolutely not being visible until you're allowed to see it is kinda Oddities thing?

I've been looking Vasilyevs claim several times - in Horizons you can see the settlement listed in Commodity locations but not in the game . Thank's for the tip.

Also there is a settlement in Maia where to sell that meta-alloys where demand isn't important... That's how we payoff our brand new FC's in 8-9 hours.

Since I covered my FC and you can see it in Horizons, I decide to sell those meta-alloys at almost same price (increased by covering my time and risk losing hundreds millions in transporting it) look at Inara goods now

LOL, Frontier surely help people buy their ball and chain. And they even offer ARX if you throw them some shinies so you can buy paints for it at discount

Help is over... Love some people attitude... go buy it by yourself

I haven't seen the settlement listed in Horizons (need to check), but if you search for trade routes on Inara, that settlement always appears at the top of the list and remains there even if you use the option to filter out Odyssey locations.

I just checked. The planet has a thin atmosphere so it is def an Oddity station. This is the thing that really makes me dislike FDev: Their shameless pay to win BS. I have a lifetime upgrade account so it doesn't affect me, but, if it did I would have dropped the developer and never looked back years back when they implemented Engineering in Horizons. It's also front in my mind when I'm considering buying any of their other offerings (is it MP? if so: f that).

Yes settlement is invisible in Horizons, and there are couple of them in bubble in Odyssey.

But since carriers can be seen in both versions I decided to buy meta-alloys in settlement and put it on sale so people in Horizons can buy it with just a bit less profit at the end. But seems people like to be rude and start sending me PM's with strange contents.
So why should I lose my time doing boring job over and over? For fame? LOL

At least they noticed your carrier!

I find the commodity market feature of carriers largely useless, except as a tool to transfer credits between accounts. In theory a carrier offering to buy e.g. silver for 20,000 Cr right next to a station selling it for 4,000 Cr should see at least some business activity, but since interstellar travel is free and in many cases even faster than traveling within a system, players have no reason to trade locally, and NPCs do not trade at all. So the whole idea of distance trading where "the locals" load and unload your carrier for a share of the profit just doesn't work.

Like virtually all other aspects of ED, carriers have a ton of untapped potential. However in this case FDev set them up in a way that relegated them to mostly being portable garages for players to store stuff in.
