Yeah... I have nothing to say except good job fdev

okay but consider: the game balance would be thrown way off if sniping were possible the way you 're describing. the Aphelion has lower accuracy than you might expect for a reason. It'd make close range combat completely pointless if someone had a gauss cannon.

Just make one shot using 10MW of your suit battery, so unless you want to shoot only 2x or waste a bunch of recharge batteries you have to stay in the blue circle under your ship.

50% of settlement personnel is inside and most of the ones outside will be obstructed by buildings etc. anyway.

Silenced executioner is fine for doing missions and settlement raids. Too few settlements have dimensions more than 400-500m. You approach from one side and clean all NPCs outside 100m after 100m and so on.

If you learn how to do it you will just hear them saying:
"Oh looks they are dead."
"A dead body, what the hell!"

On other hand, plasma weapons are complete trash for PvP. Best would be the shotgun if you get close enough. However, I doubt any competent CMDR using laser/kinetic weapons will allow this. Rocket launcher can work if you catch a CMDR off-guard, but once the surprise factor is gone it is over.

Found a bug all of you probably already know about. Distances in System Maps of other systems than the one you are currently in are not correct.

It seems to be because distances in system are now centered on your location instead of where you enter the system. And this position has no meaning in other systems.

Players teaching FDev how to code. What an embarrassment. Time for Mr. Braben to turn in his video game hall of fame membership card.

Is that the same smoke shader that used to get z-sorted in front of hair and suit when docked at a station? At least they fixed that bug already.

I am old fps veteran and tested the odyssey combat zone. it was actually really relaxing and pretty straightforward game mode. I fought as long as I died and was dropped back at fight. seemed that equipment has big role in it and actually the skill of the player doesnt have that big thing, until you get all the best stuff engineered etc.
I still was hoping more stuff into stations. Like maybe casino, with texas holdem poker with other players. Maybe auction hall for modules etc. I also am kind of looter fan, so I would definitely want to see lots of different kind of guns lying around in combat zones and maybe could loot better gear?
also would love to have clothes stores, etc in stations, so we could see lots of different looking commanders showing off their different kind of equipment setups.
But yeah, in general the fps part was fun to play, but I fear it will get pretty boring pretty fast if they dont add more variables or motivation like lootable equipment scattered in zones.

High-intensity zones are somewhat interesting, as high-level opponents in a good gear take many shots from G1-G2 guns before they go down. It's the only excuse for that 'you have to put 30 bullets in their heads to kill' kind of mechanics. But they're still a bunch of pigeon-brained morons with minimal teamplay abilities and zero tactical awareness. Aphelion against shields, AR against body, and you're good to go, scoring 1/3 to half kills of the entire team. Low-int and med-int zones are completely dull, dumb, boring, grindy, useless, with low combat bond payoff.

There is the outside chance that the new fleet carrier internals will allow for full material trading, now that could really open up some interesting places to meet/trade, not to mention hoard all our excess materials. It would be so easy to pipe the bartender into the FC storage system.

How could FDev possibly miss such an open goal...

Have you tried some of the missions?
10 Jan 2022, 7:50pm
I recommend some of the missions, covert or otherwise - take your time and steal everything - they can be really engaging. On-foot assassinations without triggering anyone can be challenging and fun.

Ground CZs are also pretty fun and med-high ones are good earners too.

He is a pro FPS guy. Exterminate settlement should be no problem. If Military type [High++] even better.

I didnt.test everything it has to offer, just the easy combat zone, which was insta action and shoot everything that moves or stays still. The fighting part didnt have any problems in my eyes. It was working and i bet that the different kind of missions give some change to running around in ground stations.
Only thing which I was hopimg, was to see cmdr's running around stations. But there was none and i dont wonder why, its because there is no absolute reason. No trading, gaming or roleplaying etc mechanisms.
Why would anybody go to station to hang around. You can talk shit in system chat as much as you want.
No reason to leave ship etc.
11 Jan 2022, 12:32am
There is a reason to leave the ship - to get on foot missions.

I think what is missing from Odyssey are station combat zones. It'd be great to transported to sections / wards of a Coriolis station that were basically combat zones inside them, such as a lab deck, a command deck etc. and the game played a bit more like the old Battlefield Push modes.

At the moment ground CZs for me are just chasing the next enemy drop so I can farm the most kills... run to Alfa, run to Foxtrot, run to Delta, repeat. Even in high ground CZs there is really little resistance from the AI. After they get dropped its like they're all jet lagged as you can pretty much wipe their shields within a few seconds then rocket them to oblivion.
