Looks like I was wrong about the Odyssey starter system being randomly chosen. Apparently everyone spawns at Chamberlain's Rest in HIP 97950.

So they changed the starter system? Interesting. If I remember correctly, I started in the Matet system.

I mean the on foot starting phase is totally unbalanced anyway. Get around 100Kcr per on foot mission or get a laser gun and run around with the flock in a combat zone to easily get at least 4-6Mcr per Battle (with trash gear).

First thing I did after spawning was to buy a Dominator suit. And then I didn't have enough cash for a rifle, so I went to the first CZ with a crappy Zenith laser pistol. For the second CZ I got a Manticore Executioner. Two shots per kill, it made things a lot more efficient. But the combat bonds didn't pay well, only 1000 or 2000 Cr per kill if I remember correctly. So I bought an Adder and started hauling for cash. Later a T-6, then a T-7, and then I had enough for the T-9.

There were no CZs in the starter system, so I had to apex my way to a system at war. Easy if you've done it before, but as a newbie I probably wouldn't know what to do. Odyssey is less hand-holding than Horizons. But it's kinda cool that you can skip the noob Sidewinder entirely. Or even play only on foot if that's your cup of tea.

Because you went to a low one which is basically pointless unless you want to unlock that engineer.

Last night I tried to harvest meta-alloys from Thargoid barnacles, so I used the codex to find some barnacle sites, but when I landed there, they all looked depleted. After a while I gave up and bought a unit of meta-alloys from a settlement instead. So boring! I was hoping some daddy goid would show up and catch me stealing his meta-alloys...

The Canonn website has a list of Thargoid Barnacle sites that are active/productive.
