WolfmanwolfThis is not optimized yet, so it's likely you'll be fine, but don't get your hopes up. Rumor has it they basically rewrote the whole game for this expansion, and that likely means they're bringing the game into the 2020s in terms of quality. That can be both a blessing for people with high end systems that don't even break a sweat on maximum settings, and a curse for people used to running E:D using computers from 2012.
I have faith that they'll figure something out that will benefit everyone because Frontier have done such a good job of optimizing the game in the past that I can't really imagine them throwing that away. I can imagine them screwing up an FPS though, because I don't think they have ever done one before.
Fingers crossed then. Hopefully it'll eventually be set so that the minimum specs are the same as before. That would make me and my derpy laptop happy.

SakashiroI find it hilarious that there are actual people on Frontier's forum defending the Apex shitshow by claiming it would suit players who are not yet proficient at flying a Sidewinder.
I'm out of the loop, what Apex shitshow?

It's a weeknight & I'm off.

No guides for us.
Just many, many trips to the re-buy screen.

Daiyousei7I've had way less issues than I expected to have for an Alpha. Nothing gamebreaking either. Found 3 minor bugs but nothing too crazy. I like that the NPC's get annoyed if you stand too close to them or ask "what are you doing" if you're walking around weird
Serious bugs are surprisingly rare in this alpha, but there's a ton of things that need to be polished. For example, if you turn on night vision inside an Apex taxi, you'll see the pilot in night vision view, which of course makes no sense. And the pilot's voice is detached from their body. Behind the pilot there's an untextured seat. NPC mouth movements are out of sync with their voices. The system map at the Apex desk takes about a minute to load. Confirmation prompts triggered by changes in graphics settings appear before the settings get applied, so there's no actual preview happening. And on and on and on. None of this breaks the game of course, but you can tell that things were rushed.
And what were they thinking when they put a 140K Ls ride before every mission? And why can't we change the deployment location so we respawn closer to where all the missions lead us? And why does the updater verify the entire 60 GB installation every time before applying an update? I'd love to help squash bugs, but there's no way I'll wait an hour every time they deploy a new client. It's taking too long, and since it happens in the same launcher, I can't pass the time by playing Horizons.

BluduhYeah, I'm 0 for 3 on missions. Gonna have to figure out how everything works by trial and error.

I couldn't even figure out how to board the shuttle. It left 2wice while I was trying to find a way.
Fugg dat mission-giver, they'll have to stick dat up where da sun don't shine.

Seriously though the size of the starting system is the problem, it will be good for max 10k ls trips.

But I haven't seen any missions yet that I could do.
So, like Saka said, I have taken the lovely 140K LS ride from the God-forsaken re-deploy dump FOUR TIMES!
I did somehow stumble upon the shuttle deploy Turbolift, so I have successfully reach my mission location, only to die and fail the mission.
But aside from learning curve difficulties, this is an amazingly good Alpha. Things are working FAR better than I thought they would.
FDEV has done a great job. Me - not so good.

Ahh I see, make sure to report those if you haven't and if they're entered, add any extra details and list as reproduced to increase priority. The more the devs are aware of, the more that gets fixed and fast.

BluduhBut you have to do missions to get cash.

If you are struggling with what to do when you first spawn in (spoilered so that people that want to figure it out themselves can)

SakashiroIf you use the camera tool in a crowded place, NPCs can push your camera around. I wonder if that's intentional.
That's already a thing in the current game. Just have a look at the outtakes at the end of Yamik's SRV "Review"

What about people running ED on consoles from 2012? Does FDev still plan to release Odyssey on last gen consoles? At this point I don't see how this could possibly work. It might end up in a disaster like Cyberpunk 2077.
