... the ASP Explorer is not that well suited for landing in mountains and its range simply does not come close to that of the DiamondExplorer. I have Elite III rank in Exobiology and have enough experience collecting samples.

I have to agree with that. Try landing ASP Explorer in mountains . This is why I use SRV. Also, I collect materials and once more, you cant do that without SRV.
Diamondback Explorer is a fun ship, I have one... somewhere...

I have Elite III rank in Exobiology and have enough experience collecting samples.

Or too much time
Lately, I have not bothered with collecting samples. It was getting boring. Same plants, same planets, different locations. Maybe I need to get further away. Use one of those neutron stars or something.

Would something like this make sense for going outside of the bubble?

(forget the weapons for now)

It's based on what I found from https://edastro.com/exploration/ but their version has serious power issues.

That looks fine to me.

Not sure about the shield booster. The only thing my shields do on my exploration ship is protect it from the occasional belly landing or asteroid bump. When I am in the bubble, I just run rather than fight in it.

Might want to consider changing the booster out for another heat sink launcher and engineer them for more ammo. Those unexpected times when you enter a system right in between two or more stars and immediately start heating up is more common than you might think. I am a bit paranoid considering things like this happen to me more often than I expect, and the first time it did when my launcher was out of ammo was a bit stressful.

I hate it more when the FSD decides its entry point has to be right through another star, but apparently there’s some magical phasing technology or transition point between the universes where you’re totally fine just zipping through a giant ball of plasma at superluminal speeds for a split second.

But yes, heatsinks. They will save your ship and your blood pressure levels (slightly in case of the latter) in close encounters with close orbiting binaries. And they can also be helpful should you choose to use them in conjunction with SCO(you’re familiar with the acronym, right?) for some of the longer distance journeys between planets… or if you’re impatient. Just make sure your fuel is full before you hit the speed button. It’s generally the only thing I carry on my exploration ship(s), but if you’re feeling fancy I guess you could pack a xeno scanner for some of the Notable Stellar Phenomena you may encounter, too, as some appear to be scannable (not that I’d know to what end).

Cool. I thought it was some typed of vid error. Happened to me once.

Been there LOL. It was a weird sight.

My ExoBio setup is Grade 5 suits/weapons + Dolphin.

Fly, land, scan, run/jump to next scan (if less than 300m) otherwise... take-off and repeat.

Do you have increased sprint duration on your suit? Because that was a game changer for me. I will also put this on my Dominator suit. Being able to run for longer is fantastic.

You can also jetpack-jump while sprinting. Stamina will regenerate while off the ground, and so will the jetpack between jumps, so you can do this indefinitely.

If Jetpack depends on stamina, then I really want to know what kind of jet it is...

Whoa, I didn't know that! This reminds me of CP2077 and how you could jump and double dash to infinity (iirc). Will test this out next time I'm on the ground

It's more like the latter does not get depleted while the former is in use.

But whether you see that as balanced or logical (especially on planets with 1G or higher) is another matter...

I mean, I load up on legumes before every ExoBio outing, soooo......

Also, to the other questions/comments about sprint and jets for exo, see my detailed reply with all my suit setups. I enjoy both mods and also enjoy the quick fly-land-scan-fly-land-scan OR jet into a canyon do some work then jet back. I mean, truly, it is a game so I definitely have fun.

Sorry to be that person, but they only accept unedited game screenshots for it.

And the meme isn't strictly new though still good. And fitting.
