RawnuJust wanted to say that Indy has the best and most relaxed attitude to the game and its players o7

Thanks! o7

I think it's important to keep a balanced perspective with most/all games. The purpose, at least for me, is fun. There's plenty in life to spend time on, especially if you enjoy what you do. And variety is the spice of life!

RawnuOne way forward here maybe could be to truly have social hubs (as Kira called them) where player-player interaction can take place (talking about space legs, not dogfights).

Shinrarta could at least have been a spot for players to meet up at (eventually), as it's one of the few spots players gather up around (without being part of a squadron or event or whatever), but instead because PvP is at all times possible in the game it's just a ganker-infested black hole that only (or mostly) the thrill seekers bother going to in Open. Outside of that location and/or general vicinity, you can be in Open but rarely meet players, or just pass each other by without much interaction, unless you're in one of the Thargoid war systems (which I could rant on a whole other level about how it was a badly managed and executed attempt at storytelling).

It of course also wouldn't solve for the slight matter of there being nothing particularly meaningful to do on stations on foot, or it not feeling like an 'alive' area.

These hub spots could be accessible by the game's core architecture. Since stations themselves are already no fire zones it would be possible to just use that "no draw" weapon status for a greater hub zone. We could even use a bridge space like for instance one of the many inordinately long elevator shafts that make up a lot of the station's interior designs. From there it could connect to a joined space, even in solo, that would allow for interaction.

The issue comes in with the fair point you brought up that there's frankly, not much to do. Right now there would need to be quite an overhaul or expansion to the way missions work for this to have any other point than a chat room. So it seems like these public spaces would be better served as a feature post mission expansion.
