Starfield: General talk

the launch vid was interesting, albeit its very much fallout in space.
but anyone with a pair of eyes could see the performance was substandard. There were parts of the so called "gameplay" that were less than 30fps

of course more development on performance should be expected but then this is bathesda we are talking about here. So good luck with that.

If it has VR support, I am in.

I really liked the visual style, but yeah, some keen eyed fans spotted a couple of bugs in the snippet we got and performance was sub-par. I hope we get planets like that in ED though, because the variance in geology looked amazing. Top notch work in that department.

DingBatDaveits very much fallout in space.

And Fallout is Elder Scrolls in a post-nuclear wasteland.

In some sense Bethesda has been selling us the same game over and over again, only with different artwork. Which is fine of course. Their formula works. At this point I don't even want them to change it. I hope they don't mess this game up with greedy monetization schemes. I'm willing to buy all their DLCs, but if I have to pay extra for things like inventory space, I might reconsider.

If there is one thing, I'm glad I never had to buy in a Bethesda game, it's inventory space. Might just have to slap on more cargo space on my ship is all.

Quite lengthy, but interesting, thanks for the links! I've also seen some early technical analysis made by Digital Foundry here. Nothing that wasn't obvious from the trailer, but still good as a comparison to Bethesda's previous titles.

Oh! Haven't seen this. I'll check it out when I get home. Thanks, Arts!

By the time the game hits the shelves, the Nvidia 4000 series will be out as well, so that'll take care of any remaining performance issues.

Starting to wish the game was more open source, at least so we could submit models for cities or architecture.

The Empire city looks amazing in this game as well as the artifact storyline.

Too bad Starfield is not an MMO.

Bethesda's single player RPGs have so far been extremely mod-friendly. Unless they change that policy for Starfield (which would be a stupid move, but then again, greed makes corpos do all kinds of stupid shit, so you never know), I'm quite optimistic there will be plenty of mods in no time.

MMOs on the other hand can't be modded for obvious reasons. So if they do come up with Starfield Online, I hope it'll be a separate game like Fallout 76 or ESO.

I have seen Spell and graphics mods for WoW for the last 16 years... It is just not a popular thing. I see that the engineer odyssey program can overlay in the elite game what the item is for before you pick it up. I dont know if there is a way to add a mod for thargoid aggro, in your group or instance? How much can we do with Elite?
