EpisparhYes, I was seeing all the modules in local storage but once I arrived at FC they were missing. Returned back, they were missing. Switched to 3.8 , they were missing.

The materials I've used to buy those modified Guardian tech are , surprise surprise, missing.

Looks like no matter what we do we get screwed over somehow. Play by the rules? Do everything correctly? Nope, sorry. You lose anyway.

Well, I have accepted the loss. I wouldn't be bothered with writing ticket for something that was submitted as issue and FDev let it expire.

https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/44819

At the end it would be a small inconvenience for me but this kind of bugs are extremely frustrating especially for new players. Odyssey is a poorly optimized bug fest.

There is similar bug with on-foot engineers where materials are taken from player but the mod was not added to their gear.

I can bet a billion that it is something related to EDO and the "glorious" new UI.

My advice is:
Avoid bulk purchase of modified modules from technology brokers or bulk modifications on on-foot gear.

Looks like ExoBio is in a bit of a mess at the moment, people are reporting actual rank demotions after handing in data post 14.01 where FD fiddled with the rank thresholds.

I managed to jump to Geneticist and am now sitting there at 0% (gained pre-14.01 but post 14), if I understand the situation correctly if I hand in further data I will lose rank based on the new thresholds. And even if you managed to grind yourself to Elite V pre U14 entirely, you may lose that rank based on your old earnings but the new rank thresholds. This is so amateurish I'm kinda lost for words.

So there goes another gameplay loop that is broken. It's astonishing that FD continue to shoot from the hip when it comes to changes like this and just roll these things out without any apparent testing and straight into the live version of the game.

Happened to me today, went from 76% to 0% after handing in 1.1B of ExoBio data, not what I was expecting. I presume FDev will fix it in their own sweet time!

Did you also lose rank or just the % within the rank? From what I read people actually dropped down a few actual ranks not just the %age.

I'm also curious whether they lose access to the suit skins - I don't really care much about ranks these days but would be annoyed if I couldn't apply say the red Artemis suit anymore.

Lol, who cares about exobiology ranks and skins for Artemis suit

That is a joke of a game play even compared to exploration.

And some of you probably have no idea what that sampler was actually pre-release - a reaction game where if you miss click one step was returning you on the previous stage.

I remember the so-called 'Alpha' (in reality it was nothing more than an early-access version at a premium price) version of the bio scanner minigame very well. It was only really a pain because of all the lag and performance issues and the apparent fact the gameplay was tied to framerate that people struggled so much, as it required precise timing.

Wasn't particularly a fan of its mechanics and it didn't really fit to the activity concept wise (logic based rather than reaction based would've worked better) but still better than 'holding button for 5 seconds x 3'. There are so many ways to design this activity but FD don't seem capable beyond simplistic minigames and their established shoot/scan/collect MO when it comes to any interaction in this game.

As for the skins... well, that's what Elite is all about these days (look at their streams and the forum news section)... something you can take for granted in most other games is content to unlock here.

I just lost % within the rank. I'm guessing it was because I didn't start outside the rank, nor did I succeed the rank. I started at 8%, so would have expected to just go back down to that, not to 0%.

Looks like we won't get another hotfix until 'early next year' - presumably January, but in lieu of a specific date or even week, it could be up to 6 weeks, possibly longer, including the Christmas period (people having more spare time to play), that we have to put up with gamebreaking bugs such as AX CZs not completing, invisible Goids, and mission board issues.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/elite-dangerous-post-update-14-known-issues-information.612137/#post-10034891

Without even acknowledging the negative feedback around the weekly war reset mechanic from the community i.e. not expecting any adjustments to this irritating feature anytime soon, if ever, I think I might be spending more time again in 3.8 (and X4 to get my 'large space battle' fix) as there seems little point in fighting against the borked mechanics and (non xeno) bugs currently in place in the Live game.

Even the version with a future (4.0) seems to receive a minimal level of support with only a single hotfix before the end of the year, which created new issues and fixed very few, I imagine this sort of cadence will continue throughout 2023. Probably best to get used to this as the new normal and manage expectations accordingly.

I personally wouldn't drop a game patch just a few days before Christmas and company-wide vacations as well. Even with the best effort, something may break. So it's quite logical they are targeting the later date, although it's not entirely best solution for the players.

CD Projekt RED released the first three hotfixes for Cyberpunk 2077 on December 11th, 19th and 23rd.

If today was the 20th of December, I would probably agree (depending on the size/impact of the hotfix). But there's still 1.5 weeks until the 24th, if they really messed it up there would still be time to revert or correct if it's really just a hotfix and not a major patch.

It seems with FD we get the worst of both possible approaches (slow & reliable vs fast & prone to errors) - not only does it take them longer to issue patches, but the quality is also much worse than what we're used to with other developers. I get the impression the dev team assigned to Elite these days is either really small, really inexperienced, or both.

Or alternatively, maybe it's all hands on deck for their F1 game after their decision to drop the game's support a mere 2 months post release didn't go down so well with players and now they're scrambling to improve the situation there first. But who knows.

Edit --- I guess the potential problem here is that the most pressing issues could well put off players over the coming weeks (especially the mission board one - I haven't done any missions lately but that does sound like a right PITA), which will negatively impact the war effort ... I certainly will no longer get involved and just watch it from the sidelines until the overall experience improves/stabilises. YMMV with respect to whether playing on despite all these spanners in the works is worth your time of course.
