Didn't knew it went ftp, thanks for letting me know. Glad i'll be able to finally give it a try. Took the 30 day trial about
2 years ago, but i didn't had the opportunity to actually play, so thanks for the notice.

Yeah, their character customization is pretty spot-on. I hope Elite can deliver something similar when the next update comes out.

I will add that I was hoping to create two character models. One for Luke and one for Lilith. That way it's easier for people who opt to interact with them in the RP forums, as well as make them a bit more engaging in the logbook stories hopefully.

So if anyone has any alternatives I'm all ears. Bonus points if said creation tool works on tablet devices seeing as I have no PC access generally.

Trying to think outside the box - If you're on XB1 and own something along the lines of GTA:V, you could see if the games character creation utility (and a screenshot/Upload app) would fill in the gap until you have PC access and a more viable option.

That's actually not a bad idea.... Although GTAs Character creation is, well, crap. Would have been pretty cool if picking your Grandparents actually had any impact in game but since you never see them beyond that screen it's just pointless.

That said, it could work as a half decent substitute until ED gets it's character creation. Or perhaps there's Mass Effect or Skyrim...

As far as I recall, EVE online used to offer a 14-day trial, giving plenty of time to throw an avatar together, but has very recently gone FTP so you should be good to go as soon as you get hold of a laptop.

There's also stuff along the lines of http://www.heromachine.com but I have no idea if it'll work on a tablet and you're kinda stuck with cartoon-style creations.

Quite convinced that would rustle more than a few feathers

The issue with EVE is more that I need to download it onto someone elses laptop to make use of it. Other than that I was all for it lol. Made an account and everything.

I did try a couple of avatar creators online but as you said, they're mostly very cartoonish :-/

Eve, as of this month, now has a free-to-play mode which is called "Alpha Clones." Essentially, you can play for free but your skill path is very limited. But that doesn't matter because we're talking about the character creator, which you can now use for free indefinitely as a result of this Alpha Clones thing.

I found the Hero Machine to be a little cartoonish for what I wanted to do - but the thing was damn fun to use all the same.

Well, I guess I can dabble around with it to give me a idea how I want to look like in E:D someday. Assuming E:D Char creator will feature at least as much as the EvE one, hopefully.

I'm looking forward to not having a headless body when I stand up and look down at the chair. It's all a bit Sleepy Hollow at the moment.
