Elite: Game talk

IndyFollowing up on my own message to add that the AXCZ in Open was quite fun, compared to Solo. I managed to contribute to about a dozen kills and even managed to contribute to taking down the Hydra at the end of the battle. I did need some repair/rearm during the battle, but it was a lot less stressful to do that than when in Solo.

It seems that you are on the right path just go on fighting goids. If you are doing it at ports (space or surface) repair limpet and storage for them might not be needed could be replaced for HRPs including docking computer. May the schwartz be with you.

Just got ganked INSIDE Jameson Memorial in Shin Dez. Ganker named blaze10523 (idiot) just sitting there blasting whatever comes through. Absolutely HATE this childish behaviour. That's why I hardly ever play in Open.

SakashiroIt's a stupid design. But hey, FDev needed to introduce something to extend the grind, because grind is content for them.

Everything is this game designed to take time. Come on you are defending Shinrarta but you only could get bonds for that at one place - cornwallis rescue ship. That's the joke, and fighting in open around Shin. is so f. poorly scripted that it shifts time and space continuum.

1984 version of EliteDangerous available in Frontier store for free:

Ain't tried it yet but I reckon it's worth doing.

And again Jameson has no missions for me.

It's all procedural anyway, so how hard can it be to design a mission generator that generates new missions the moment a ship docks? What am I supposed to do now, hog the landing pad until a suitable mission shows up? What was the update interval for mission boards again, 10 minutes? This is such a stupid design.

Solved it by changing the ship again. This time it's the Courier's turn. And it's still the best ship for the job. The critical time between exiting supercruise and hitting the pad in Jameson is so short, most gankers fail to even notice me. And there are always missions for a ship with 8T cargo space.

Interesting: The Courier's Guardian FSD booster gets fried even while the ship is sitting in the hangar. For some reason the Adder's Guardian shield reinforcements were not affected.

Well, why shouldn't I have one of those 'Triple Hydra Solo' screenshots too...

Gotta say, SCO drives shave off a lot of the idle time between action. A perfectly timed boost between main star and station without overshooting feels very satisfying.

As far as I know neither shield nor hull reinforcements are impacted by AGF because they don't have any active hitpoint pool to degrade. (But you can still apply the immunity mod to no effect anyway)

Only know about the hulls from experience by using them myself for some Titan builds following the discovery, but I guess now I do for both. And yeah, Glaives kind of ignore you sitting inside a station shielded from cosmic and stellar radiation with their anti-Guardian field. Because of course.

Docking time is absolutely critical. Don't enter Jameson with a ship that moves slowly and takes too much time to dock. They'll be waiting for you inside, and they have missiles that pass through shields. Once you connect with the pad, you're safe, but if you fumble too long ...

It doesn't help that manual control of the pad elevator is disabled. You can't go to the surface and change your mind; once you hit launch, there's no going back.

That being said, walking on razor's edge between mission success and rebuy is the most fun I've had in the game for quite a while. And the Thargoids make it even more spicy ...
Ship disabled by shutdown field the moment it left the pad.

Damaged station evacs around those large orbitals also got quite "fun" once the Scythes began showing up around them because it turns into utter bedlam very quickly. At least with planetaries and outposts there is almost no chance things will escalate unless a player is nearby killing Scythes, because the chance for AX NPCs to spawn seems to have been reduced to near zero (my first experience with the scenario in update 16 had a couple friendly NPCs show up but never saw them around a damaged port again since, except S&R NPCs).

I'm not too sure how well a Courier would fare in that environment either once you try getting out because everything will start shooting at you. Not to mention the slightly unfriendly port interior once it burns, though I doubt Jameson will naturally (aka without further Frontier intervention) reach that state.
