I haven't seen those high paying passenger missions in a long time, so I'm under the impression that Frontier nerfed it. Because, you know, "how dare our players make money effectively!"

As for the rankings, I think they do? The same way any other mission does. I'm not entirely sure if it is more efficient to do passenger missions than any other mission to increase your rank.

Despite all of this, I still run quite a few missions from time to time. It all depends on if you can get a few good ones to stack.

Cheers Marra. Turns out I can purchase and outfit a beluga hoiw I se fit for 211 milliomn with just a 11 million rebuy. Plenty room for error there thankfully.

Thanks Cartlidge. I was sure I'd read somewhere they'd been nerfed but wasn't sure. As for rank efficiency, I'm not overly fussed about that, I was just curious. I might even climb aboard tonight...

From what I hear, systems in situations that create refugees, aid workers, and the like often have many missions available. Certain parties will often pay handsomely for those same folks to not make their intended destinations. Though, of course, the hiring faction usually disapproves.

Do with this as you wish.

I have a friend who did 2 missions going to the Core (or thereabouts) transporting VIPs on a round-trip. He got 50 and 80 million credits, but only 3-4% rank increase with Empire, at the Lord rank. That was a couple of weeks of jump and honk. If you want to do rank, then data missions are the way to go. A nice compromise of money and rank is to stack Massacre missions in a Civil war zone.

I'm not too fussed about how much passenger missions give in terms of rank. If I'm chasing those I have systems that provide plenty Data Missions betweem themselves, plus there is always Sothis runs for Credits.

It really is just the information I was looking for. Plus, if I take any Sag A* tourist trips, you can bet your left testicle (or ovary if you lack the Y chromosome) I'm doing it Buckyball style

go to Ceos/Sothis... and run BOOM Data missions betwen both systems! (even a Cobra III is good for this)
