LawrenceRUSHello! I need some help with my cobra build. What upgrade can I get from Selene for my armor and hull modules? I'm currently using reactive composit armor.

It is a good habit to blue-print the ship or upgrade at EDSY or/and EDCD before committing time and materials.

Kasumi GotoThose very extreme top-end of the range ships are useful if you’re looking to explore the fringes, but for me, I haven’t done so much and generally stick to 500-1,000 ly above/below plane (in the denser areas/where possible) or somewhere around 200-300 in the ones which are less populated with stars.

So a Phantom with a ~68 ly range and not needing to turn off toaster and heater just so it can fly has served well in getting where I want to be faster and then just going at it.

I’m not sure yet where a Mandalay of similar build would end up at in terms of its range, as I’m not planning to go out and explore again soon, so I haven’t bothered setting a theoretical build up yet.

Go and get the Mandalay and try it out. It cost less than a lunch.
You get the Type-8 for less than a pint of ale.

As mentioned before, in some regions of the galaxy 0.5 Ly extra jump range can make the difference between a straight course and an hour-long detour. You'll understand when you travel to Beagle Point for the first time.

But there's another reason to power down unnecessary modules: they generate heat. This means your ship will overheat faster. You may not be able to scoop fuel efficiently or charge your FSD early without taking damage. This will slow you down. You may also get into trouble more easily if there's a twin star system waiting at the end of your jump.

Yes, there is always few ly that are missing. (almost) always.

I dragged with me a full set of weapons. Completely useless. Had them turned off + some other stuff I did not need. I also made a mistake while having the FSD engineered. No big deal.

Had to take few detours but guess what, this is where and how you find new stuff nobody has even seen before. Found 2 new neutron starts, for example.

Anyhow, Rigatoni is probably ready and those engineers I have access to, have done their job.
I wold need access to Chloe Sedesi to get the thrusters up to 5 and shield generator requires Lei Cheung for 5. Not happening any time soon.

Plan is to go on a FC. Get a ride out and maybe hop back on my own. We will see.

Rawnu THANKS! And here's your dream Mandalay, with over 90 LY that will go pop as soon as you sneeze

Ha! True, with the sneeze.

I see the fuel tank change you made. I can do that with the paper one I made and my Anaconda as well. (I do think "max jump range" is a misnomer as the unladen jump range is typically the more "functional".) Anyway, to match yours to the others, I put the 32 ton fuel tank in it and it's unladen goes to 84.09, similar to my paper one. If I alter my paper MD and my Anaconda build to match your 8 ton fuel tank: paper = 90.59 Ly (UNL) / 91.42 Ly (MAX), conda = 89.74 Ly (UNL and MAX). So, the MD does take the lead if really scraping bottom with components, but....

I love the versatility of the MD and am, therefore, happy to have it as my new main ship, I just don't see it unseating the Anaconda for extreme jump range. Especially, since it doesn't stay as steady as the Anaconda when supercharging at a neutron star. (As with other Medium sized ships, the Mandalay sways a LOT in cone turbulence.) I wish the SCO stability also impacted the supercharging stability, but I guess there's a difference between internal and external stresses.

Rayman.you guys are death wishers. Safety first during exploration in very deep space, here is mine with 80ly. https://edsy.org/s/v86jYuw

i can reach 86ly if i put fuel tank 3c instaed 5c but thats asking for getting stuck around non scoop stars, looking for Raxxla or some weird stuff and calling fuel rats

my aspx and phantom have 70ly, they served well, especially aspX.

Ha! Don't worry. The "paper" build is just hypothetical, for me.
My actual MD build (unl 77.60, max 79.90) is best viewed here on Inara; with a full loadout of weapons and lots of modules.
And here's my actual long-jumping Anaconda (unl 87.05, max 90.82 Ly); which I really do fly for long neutron star journeys (described in previous posts).

I've made it even more absurd by swapping the hamster wheel with a phone battery charger power plant to 2D with Overcharged / Stripped Down effects, so now it has 90.50 vs. 90.41.
