I play almost exclusively in open unless I forget to change back after refreshing the mission board, or if landing pads are scarce at a busy station, and I've never been interdicted for piracy by a player. I've also only had another player attempt to interdict me maybe less than 5 times, and even then only 2 of them succeeded, and only one of them escaped me alive, lol.

I also play in Open all the time, unless forgetting to change back as you wrote. And I've never been interdicted in months if not over a year, mostly because I stay clear of CGs.

Enough to do down here to keep one occupied.

Ryan MurdocPlease don't give me the old It is Open you so you have to expect anything sermon.

Open, like Solo or PG, are all just different instances of the same game. And none of them are higher or lower ranked in any shape or form nor will they ever be changed, unless FD plans to lose a lot of players aka customers for their future upgrades.

Never said open was better. People are more than free to play in solo or private, I'm not casting any judgement on them for that in the slightest!

But it can't be ignored that open does indeed come with increased risks such as piracy, bounty hunting, Power play/BGS war, and general combat. It's just a fact.

Piracy - yes
Bounty hunting - yes
Powerplay - yes
BGS war - huh?

Considering you can influence BGS from PC, XBOX and PS4...unless you boil it down fighting in CZ's during a War / Civil War, ok. But that's just a fraction of what BGS is about.

As far as I'm concerned, Space is supposed to be dangerous. It's wild west rules out there, killers and thieves run rampant, mercenaries and bounty hunters work to keep order or for the highest bidder, traders and passenger ships try to carve out a living without getting turned to debris. I wouldn't have it any other way. Would it really be satisfying if it were always safe to run cargo? I can't even bring myself to trade at all because of how boring it is, I imagine the potential risk is all that makes it any fun.

If two player factions find themselves competing for the same space or systems, they might fight it out. Just Powerplay on a smaller scale. That couldn't have been that hard to work out :/

Regarding regular Trading, I never touched that nor will I ever. Smuggling contrabant in the beginning, yep. But going from Station to Station selling/loading up and rinse repeat? Sorry, even Mining is more appealing to me then that.

You do realise that Powerplay needs proper BGS work, but BGS doesn't need Powerplay?

And regarding fighting it out, it all depends on the level of knowledge of both sides regarding the workings of the BGS. If one side knows all the clues and the other doesn't, it gets frustrating quickly.

And as Marra said, Piracy has some fatal bugs just now

I said annoying bugs. Not fatal.

Sorry to nitpick, but saying they are "fatal" gives the impression that piracy is unplayable; far from it, it is both fun and profitable!

Lol! Sorry, sorry.

Maybe I'm just not very good at it is all, haha!

AesirTo be fair Ryan Murdock. I agree that the players that suicide and park at popular grinds for manifest scanning are probably not great people. But I am contesting that there are #$&holes in life, they are not removed from our daily experience so why should we be exempt from the underbelly in game?

Surely the future is rife with thugs as well.

I have delt with this behaviour in game in the past and I enjoy it, it spiced up a rather predictable AI experience. While not totally condoning the behaviour or the kind of person it takes to commit the act, I do embrace it.

Life is messy .

Everyone their own. I am just glad I can avoid toxic people like that, both in game and soon on Inara too once Artie has implemented the Ignore feature.

Life is messy enough already. No need for me to spice it up more.

This is not Life, its a game? You're not losing anything..its entertainment treat it as such, and you have fun...When it becomes life, seek consueling XD

Don't worry, I do enjoy this game. Being with wonderful individuals who are fun to be with. Progressing slowly but surely.

That’s the thing I love about the wing system here (or squadrons in ED next year), being able to fly with a group of like-minded people. It makes space more interesting and engaging.
