KevGeeHi guys... Im new here & still feeling my way around!!

Ive been pure trading with the aim of buying an Anaconda & then changing to a Trader/Fighter.

Ive got £250M creds saved up so can now get a 'conda!

What would be the best combination of weapons/Hardpoints etc with that amount of money for a Trader/Fighter?

Thanks in advance!

Helo!

I am not a fan of large ships personally, but I think that you will need a lot more than your 250m Cr budget to outfit a decent Combat Freighter.

I tend to agree with Marra here re. the credits,  decent builds add quite a bit on to the base model of any ship.

Do what I do, read up on recommended builds on your preferred ship, and plug it into Coriolos or ED Shipyard, to give you some ideas on performance and cost.

Gunter BorgI update Inara through the plugin for EDMC, but it does not update all of my information. ie. it updates credits but nothing with my ships, stored modules, or most importantly engineering materials/data. To update those I have to manually update my journal file. Is that how it's supposed to work or should everything be updating automatically through the EDMC plugin?

There is currently a new plugin version being developed, incorporating a new Inara API, so I expect it will be working better then.

Kev,

On my Anaconda I run 2 med beams on top and 1 large beam on the bottom. The rest is all multi-cannons including the huge slot. I also run a class 5 fighter bay. I find this build gets me out of most trouble when trading and exploring etc. My power plant is engineered to lvl 5 Overcharged so I can shoot the beams all day.

Best of luck with your 'conda.

Just invest in a Hauler, Adder, or Cobra, and then just avoid everyone as much as possible as you build up more credits for rebuys. When you see the "o7", "o/". or a simple "hello" come up on your Comm Panel, just run the other way. That's what I do. I need all the insurance rebuy cash I can get.

Sorry for interrupting.

Listen to the folks above. A bare bones Anaconda is just asking to get destroyed (by a player or an NPC). Spend some time in one of the medium ships. Build up your credit balance (and skill).

Agreed.

If you're combat inexperienced, start training in an A-rated sidewinder. As you gain skill, move on to the eagle, cobra, viper, etc. Learn the strengths and weaknesses of each ship you pilot and each you battle.

Hop into an A-rated Vulture, battle an Anaconda, then decide whether or not you want a Conda.

I do agree with everyone here. I spent hundreds of hours in a Vulture then a Python before I bought my Anaconda. Build up the money because the rebuys on the 'conda can hurt.

It's a lot of ship! Heck, didn't buy mine until nearly a year and a half into the game. Only brought it out for serious PvP once (Salome event). Rest of the time it's a big toy.

Here's a secret: medium ships are where the fun lives.

Lovin my Vulure as a fighter. Crazy agile. Saving up for the FDL. Can't wait.

Absolutely, and I'll also extend that to the small ships too - throwing them around with reckless abandon is great fun!

Oh gosh yes smalls are great. Just biased.

Agreed. Cobra iii is a joy to fly. One of my faves. Vulture is classified small, I think, right?

in fact my imperial courier (747km/hr) i use to fight those vultures....so bigger is not necessarily better...Elite is well balanced...every size has its advantages and disadvantages...even vultures :p

Don't forget that to outfit a ship you need to spend about 200-300% the cost of the ship with modules...

Yeah, I don't mess with imperial couriers in my vulture or any other ship. Learned the hard way.

Grab a python, A rate it, engi it. Have a trader that can land on any station, and that can fight toe to toe with a conda in some cases. Also, it has a class 7 plant and it's a medium ship. Python is where it's at.
