The The Chandrasekhar Limit.

The Chandrasekhar limit is the maximum mass of a stable white dwarf star. The limit was first indicated in papers published by Wilhelm Anderson and E. C. Stoner in 1929. It was named after Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, the Indian astrophysicist, who independently discovered and improved upon the accuracy of the calculation in 1930,

I have a question about engineers. So to unlock them you have to do some sort of event maybe rank, maybe travel distance, maybe whatever. Once you get "invited" to go see them you need a material to unlock them, that sounds easy enough. Once you unlock them they can then engineer an item for you based on their own abilities. So lets take FSD for example. They are 5 grades they can engineer, do these 5 grades correspond with the size of the FSD that fits in my ship? So if I have a level 4 FSD i can only get a grade 4 engineered?

Now there are materials needed to do the engineering, such as Arsenic, Chemical Manipulators, Data mined Wake Exceptions. Now I get 1 "Roll" for each set of these items that I have correct? Each roll could produce better or worse results than the previous roll correct? Can I buy these items or is it just floating in space somewhere and I have to find it?

Also lets say I got all this stuff and I am ready to get my FSD engineered. should I fly out in the ship that will hold the new FSD or is it something I can carry in a smaller ship with a larger jump range?

No, the grade refers to the quality of the modifications. You can get a G5 Mod on any size or class of module. Currently, the only exceptions to this are the new AX Modules which cannot be engineered at all.

The material requirements are 'per roll'. So if one asks for 2 Arsenic and 1 Cracked Firmware, you will need 4 Arsenic and 2 Cracked Firmware for a second roll. The results are random every time, so your new roll may be worse than your old one.
Most materials are found in space, correct. Others can be granted as rewards for missions. None of them can be bought however.

You can use any ship you want to transport the module to and from the engineers, and you can then transfer it to storage and subsequently onto your chosen vessel. The modifications come with it as they are attached to that module and will affect whichever ship you have it installed on. (I would say though, this is a redundant system to utilise for an FSD as putting a small FSD on a large ship greatly reduces the jump range. This is one module where it's probably best to simply transport it in whichever ship you intend to keep it in).

If you like, you can put your Pulse Lasers (for example) onto a DBX, get them modded, and then take them back and install them onto your FDL. The only thing that will change is they are now on your FDL. All the stats and effects remain the same.

Hope this helps, ask away if you have further questions. =)

Apologies, those too.

And the passenger cabins...

I'm sure others will inform me of other modules I've missed, so I recommend looking at the engineers section of this site. It'll tell you who can do which modules so you can see if there are any that you might wish to tinker with, and find out if it is another exception =)

If Felicity or any other engineer gives you a bad roll and takes that hard searched for material from you for that grade 5 , you can always stop by a near system for biowaste and fill your hold, return and hit eject cargo over farseer inc or any engineer base that gave you that bad roll . Always fun to do .

I found out quite by accident that the cup holders were a perfect fit for the smoke grenades.

... What? They are!

Hi everyone,

Quick question here... I am ranking up with Feds to get the 'vette. I am at 91% in Post Commander, but the missions are drying up. I've gone everywhere from Sothis and Ceos to Niu Hsing and loads of other potential hot spots. I'm filtering for only fed worlds in boom or expansion, but not finding anything really stable. Any tips or hot spots that might yield some good missions??

Cheers and happy hunting

Groo,

Sothis and Ceos are practical dried up FYI. Also, Id think over getting the corvette, it's nice and powerful but easily overwhelmed unless of you just want to buy it to have it lol. I would go to the expansion areas be it Felicia Winters or the Federations and get into the CZ they have. Most are low pay starting but they should do well. Also, go on a 10k plus exploration trip and turn it all into a Fed station which will gain you better missions and faster rank too.

Hope it helps. Take care.

Thanks Oldmachine, I have been contemplating a long exploration trip for a while now. The corvette is the only ship I can't get atm, I always see pve players rave about it. It's funny, I'm trade elite already and a couple ranks away from exploration and combat as well, and I can't make up my mind which to go for... so frustrating

Thanks again and happy hunting

Something tells me that if Twitter existed in the 34th century, Space Khaleesi would have an account and it would be a constant source of amusement.
