If you Quince Monkey your way to an Anaconda in two weeks and complain because there's nothing to do, then you are silly.

Draxxa Kirethwhat would you consider "a few standard features"?
Calteru  ...if there were a few standard features but there aren't so....

Trading with other players (esp IGC), crafting tradable ship modules (gear crafting), and at least some kind of a guild/clan/corp system where people can get together without having to go out of game so much. Maybe the squadrons deal will take care of the third thing but I don't think ED's ever getting the other two things. Space legs/WIS would be nice but that's not standard. Most games also let players gift microtrans stuff. That would be really helpful for running a racing league or offering prizes for treasure hunts or stuff like that.

Elite ain't Eve, and part of me hopes it never becomes Eve.

There's plenty to do. Start a revolution, overthrow a government, hunt players for sport, go exploring and run to the edge of the galaxy. Study Thargoids, join a player group, write fanfiction, join a group of SRV racers, become a Fuel Rat... *hold nose* Join a Powerplay community. *retches* Dive into the lore, tinfoil with tinfoily folks, go searching for barnacles and lost bases and other attractions.

Powerplay is still a thing? I haven't checked since I left that mess.

I would love to do SRV racing. Who does that?

Check out the Buckyball Racing Club. http://www.buckyballracing.org.uk

They're running a SRV event now.

Looks like I just missed it, but thanks! I'll keep an eye on it!

That's surely no standard stuff .....the fact that another game might have that is another issiue....

mind you, there are some interesting things in it....

BUT, i fail to see how that would satisfy you considering you find the game after 2 weeks "boring" .....

Regarding Wings...We have a fairly active wing where we get together either on Discord or in our own bar....it's more about the community who has been filling those gaps....but it's there!...

Have you been actually engineering? unlocked Professor Palin? Have you hunted for CIFS on tight security bases, for the DirtyDrive enhancements?? Worked to get the Corvette or Cutter...and optimising their performance? Visited inside a Thargoid-ship?

In any case...anybody in a leadership role knows you won't satisfy everybody...

This game is all about imagination...it always was! In 1984 you created an environment and pictured ships purely from wireframe outlines. What FD have done is provide amazing visual stimulation to that imagination. If you lack the imagination to immerse and entertain yourself fine, play something else!

Really well said, old timer.

Calteru, I suggest that yo go and play EVE on line until the devs fill the sandbox up a bit for you.
After only 2 weeks in the game I am surprised that you can't  find anything to do.

With ship names like "Tenacity" and "Ambition"  I would have thought that you would want to at least increase your Combat "harmless,  Trade "merchant,  Exploration "pioneer" ranks
Also there is,   Imperial rank "none"  Federation rank "none"

In a way you can't blame people who haven't been around in the early days of computer games. Look at todays titles and compare them to those back then (and that doesn't even mean to go all the way back to text-only INFOCOM ones).

What is the biggest difference?

Games of today are holding your hand within itself, telling you where to go, what to do to get whatever reward. May it be big time MMO's or single player games. Rushing through quests to build your arsenal, only to replace things halfway through with better gear cheapens the reward more each time you do so. There is no inherent value to what one does, you simply are dragged literally by the nose through the gameplay. Until you reach the end of it.

Leaving you with "Hm...well, it was ok, I guess" if you're lucky. Most times I doubt it'll be that.

Yes, games in the past were a lot more simpler and yes, even more restricted then todays games are. But thanks to lacking the internet (either access to it, or if you had access then it depended on the connection speed, if someone was picking up the phone and terminated your connection, or the horrendous costs) you couldn't simply check out which strategy was best to beat a roadblock that you encountered.

You had to invest time and effort. It could take hours, days, weeks. Or longer. But once you managed to get it done, the adrenalin that rushed through your veins and the screams of victory echoing through your appartment (basement?) would be the sounds of legend forever embedded in those walls. Yep, exaggerating much perhaps, but hell it sure felt like that!

You needed Patience, Tenacity and a plethora of other skills to overcome, depending on the type of game you played. Reflexes were (and are) helpful in some cases, but without the ability of a quick wit and foresight all your physical prowess was for naught. It sometimes took defeat after defeat until you realised how the opposition was reacting. And knowledge wins any battle if there's a way to use your opponents shortcomings for yourself.

So for me I'm just shaking my head at those who seem quickly bored, for there was no real desire to put time and effort into such a game in the first place. And to play something only to be exclaiming that you're not satisfied is to me like you'd go eating somewhere, complete the meal and then refuse to pay because you expected better.

Hi

Someways i feel this issue aswell

Starting off 3months agoo,Amazed by the games basic features such as Exploring, feelings of the huge unknown, and i thought too my self,OOOyeah:D

After traweling 40kLy,got my name on even Black Holes and X others, seen Guardian and Thargoid Sites,(Which are the Cool stuff)Become Master,Elite,Elite and soon too own both of the main ships,2.2 bn assets,0.5 in exploration,1400 bounties claimed,20k passengers delivered, too name some .....im left with a grinding patterns, thats on my eyes even when they are closed.Grinding Grinding Grinding, challenges are simply  not there anymoore, just how and what too grind, and the fastest way.

Stuff like The Guardians, are left out there and contains noo moore add too the game anymoore than a empty box(sad),it was a great experience at the time.

Theres no lack of imagination,on my part, but theres limits even for me on how many colours and shapes,a grey stonebrick can have.

Maybe some would say im burned out on my own,but im still hungry for Moore. If exiting stuff should present itself, ill probably rushing for it in huge hopes for a adventure ahead.

The game i can follow without even log on,and players huge accounts are made on Stream sites, not in game.kinda sucks the last air out of it,and its game value(for a newcomer, doo your self a favor,Figure stuff out your self)Its not like some years agoo, where toofind the last little secret, you sneak your self too a tinyest little cheat or walkthroughand a handful printouts from the neighbours slow Isdn, and printer,or notes if not present....Its all there, and on trending you get even moore.Well,Advantage or Fail?
Too me that is and looks like the biggest Grind of them all.

Iknow im kinda in "the middle of the church"saying the stuff the belivers dont whant too hear,im sorry .."Do not goo gentle intoo........";)

Hope for higher game content, and player experience

Great Base for Space gameing, will it keep its integrety?

Cheers
