Thomas EvansSpent a long time thinking about exploring again, so I spend most of my play time today traveling to Obsidian Orbital.
only to be destroyed by someone waiting for me to get there with the Thargoid probe and sensor I managed to find, along with my first contact since that update.. the experience was totally ruined

CalteruThinking about taking out this Anaconda build for deep-space exploring in the direction of galactic center. Opinions?

Alright, so I think there is a fair amount of work that can be done to this build. You're packing a lot of stuff you don't need especially for deep space exploration. While you certainly can take that build to the core, you're only weighing yourself down. Chances are, you won't ever need 75% of the stuff in your current build.

Try something closer to this.

Why all those HS launchers? Bring one or two and materials to synth them. Of course, you only get those materials in the bubble, but it's just like any trip, you stock up before you leave.

lol...ahum...this is my Anaconda of a while ago....here it does 60LY without help...by now it's about 61 LY....and it's not even stripped...for an exploration mission i probabbly get 66LY without Jumponium...

the only thing you will be needing are fuelscoop, a light shield generator and AFMS and 2 of them don't cost any weight...and possibly srv...

Unlucky.

Learn from it; develop your GTFO plan, or make wiser choices on a game mode to suit your playstyle.

This was a Pilots Federation CMDR and they had my shields down and hull at 9% in 30 seconds flat with major upgrades. They waited for me to be about 50m away from entering Obsidian Orbital.. then destroying me at that point. wouldn't even negotiate me dropping my Thargoid probe and sensor.

Your visit to the rebuy screen was not a forgone conclusion.

Can you think of anything you could've done differently?

Yep, my advice still stands - work on your GTFO plan and adapt your playstyle for Open.

I had no chance and their was no getting out.. it all happened in seconds. Maybe this is just a point towards how unfair upgrades ( can ) be in the hands of players trying to mess with everyone else for no role standpoint.

not that im complaining. some CMDR's get a kick out of being a cold blooded murderer ahhaha

If said CMDRs would've at least some class doing what they do I'd agree. But alas that seldom is the case.

Let's see what Crime&Punishment penalties are in store for such individuals. Currently they're getting off way too easy for their deeds.

It's time to find out if those "git gud" murderhobos will cry us a river once they're faced with harder opposition of the PvE kind. I can already hear the moaning on the FD boards

Thomas, what ideas did you have?

Learn the warning signs of an impending gank.  There's many ways to save your skin before the enemy even deploys hardpoints!

EDIT:  While C and P might make it tougher for us, don't expect the rabble rousers of the galaxy to go quietly into the night.  It's just not our way.

I'm really looking forward to the proposed Crime and Punishment changes. Many other fellow space-criminals are too! The additional challenges will really add to the experience of playing on the darker side of the game

Did you just paraphrase Dylan Thomas?

I'm sorry, no game AI will beat a good player without a cheated ship. Even playing field ship-wise? Humans can't make an AI that good yet, even if we could, Frontier servers couldn't handle the thousands of ships needing it at once.
10 Dec 2017, 6:50pm
I'm fairly sure that ship AI is handled locally and not on the server side. That'd seem a tad impractical.

So... play on a crap PC. Or throttle that process, still not a solution.
