just something simple..and can be quite some fun and is a delightfull change......have you tried simply to collect Cracked Industrial Firmware from bases, for the DirtyDrive5 -engineering?? or simply master the FDL with its Pendulum effect? or the most optimal load-out for ...let's say ...pirating?

Got moore than enough firmwares, used up my millitary components, some i used before i knew how unique they where(over 600 modified module attemts)which hard too find, and feel often storage space is holding me back, over 120 ly on my asp on boost, did that, done that.
Unlocked all engineers aswell

Piracy is just not my stuff

I guess you tried this the Warcraft way: level asap up, not experiencing and enjoying the lore... and then hope you then can get to  the "real stuff"..but that's why people like the vanilla version more and more...

.....no...elite is enjoying all the way, the flavours and subtleties.... by the way..elite in it's current form is just barely 2 years old...it's not about the levelling....a CZ in a viper needs to be done different than a FDL and that different with a Corvette...the mechanics change...

I feel guilty,there,in some.

Alone this game gets boring, really fast, but i do feel i have used a fair share reading up on it all, like this site and Canonn, too mention some.on Lore and comittment lurks a small hunger still to follow up on,or wing making/mulricrew...but who too know and who too trust,do a part aswell.

Actually, we got now another "old geezer" (we virtually only have them) in our wing...

He mentioned he had spent more than 1200 hrs doing his thing by his own... and in the last 2 weeks while teaming with us, he says he learned so much more of the game in those 2 weeks, and never had so much fun! ..new insights, new passions...he's now totally into canyon racing for example...and now knows what a srv is capable of, while scanning bases

For myself my ambition is now on synchronizing a tight flightgroup that can work together well during combat...improving combat-flights and maneuvres with them...that's the beauty of Elite...there is so much to be done and to explore...now that you explored quite some corners, to see where your true passion lies...

In some ways, I enjoy what Elite "lacks" - the absence of any sort of linear story or progression that have long been the staples of electronic games. I think back to when I first started with Elite - a little over a year ago. I'd never played any of the previous titles, and after looking them up to see what all the fuss was about, I can honestly say I'm kind of glad I didn't. But there are some "lacking" areas that I do long to see improved as well, many of which are slated to be addressed in the upcoming "season 3".

The addition of a Codex, to collect and make available in-game lore - the things we should know and want to know, and not have to discover in the form of text notes and audio logs and write down on sticky notes or record for our own record for one, will be a great addition, if it's implemented in such a form. I enjoy the fact I don't have to be the very first to discover a thing to enjoy discovering a thing for myself. Case in point - just last night I found the first of what appears to be several INRA facilities. While sifting though the records there, I learned of another and it's rough location. I was able to track this second location down, and as before, learned of a 3rd.

But it's the actual tracking these things down that could use some help. I don't particularly like having the only means of locating something like this hinge on my flying over a planet using the 3rd person camera, and hoping to spot something that looks like something that doesn't turn out to be shadows of terrain or a change in surface textures, or just an odd-shaped rock.

This is also something I am hoping is improved in the next year's updates. Improvements to search methods for surface features, especially when so closely linked to what is important to the game universe would certainly improve the experience overall.

I do not avoid combat, but it's not my primary focus. I do avoid PVP, as it does not interest me, though I will admit, I had initially considered a career in Piracy, until I learned about the game mechanics, and in many areas, the lack of mechanics as they apply to Piracy, and found other things to hold my interests. Now days, I mostly go about hauling passengers to interesting places, catching bits of game lore from beacons, and poking my head into things that look or sound interesting. A random broadcast here, message there, and I find myself heading off somewhere to see what is waiting to be discovered.

Other times, I find myself drawn to one or more of the active Community Goals, hauling in freight or even shooting at criminals to see some objective reached. With these there is at least some sense of urgency, as they last only a short time before they complete, or the week has passed and they come to a close, and sometimes that sense of urgency is what I need to push myself that extra bit.

I never found it particularly difficult to raise the credits needed to purchase anything I desired, nor all that difficult to reach various ranks with various navies to gain access to restricted ships. Even the Engineers were not particularly difficult to gain access to or raise my standings, as these things were my focus when I first started playing - make money, earn rank, unlock ships and engineers - and once these things were done the game changed for me - for the better - as I was free from the 'rat race' of having to do things, to enjoy doing the things I wanted to do, but either couldn't afford, or would not otherwise advance my position. It's actually quite liberating.

@IndigoWyrd: That's the beauty of it...it's extremely versatile...and the outcome is not pre-defined as the outcome is player-community-based...

On other news, the T-10 Defender is out for about 1 hour now. Have fun buying / engineering.

Yay, new toy! I've needed a new toy for a while now.

I wonder how long it will take Coriolis to add it....

I know my Srv inside out,and planetary searches for that sake.My intrests on purchase was Universe, azimuths, elevation, orbits, gravity,Gallileo,Newton,Einstein or theoretical stuff like string theory...and the sience in this, also the stuff that you have too digg for.Imagenary tools like space simulators ,Elite Dangerous,or Interstellar the movie is allmost xrated stuff too me...iIts all on an amature level looking at the huge picture of it all,and beeing open minded enough too see theres a whole world out there that knows moore or just as much as me(treasures)  ,theres a increasing vacum for the subject in general....so i moore than once stop and enjoy the image or even cross reffrece planatary datas too other sites, like our closest Black Hole.

Furter Enjoyment of the game as A Game, maybe Teaming up is the way, though i hope for content that tease my intrests so imagination gets cought by supprise, and you feel IT again.

Maybe thats why im in my small game depress,i have simply been sucked in,for too long as a overdose, like i tend to on stuff...and its not fulfilling further highs just yet or should i simply Do a Real Life Experiece for once, like doo some housework....ehmmm,A minor game aside cant hurt,or,yes it will....

Back too start,Grinding systems here are huge project if you whant to get ahead,on that part ,Which Is Infact a part of the game that comes with benefits, and are motivated by developer. If not we would all be flying around in Sidewinders. Its Plain mindlessnes and huge portion of time, patience dooing the same task over and over again, hours days and weeks.Nomatter how big tecknical solutions this challenges developer,it gives me the chanse of saying 1+1=2 over and over again.

pheww..

Honestly I'm more looking forward to the Chieftain. The Type-10 just looks like a massive bullseye to me. We'll have to see how it does in stress testing.

It's not like they knew about the Thargoid threat and could prepare right? They had to rush manufacturing...
