Ahh, you have grade 3 beams, I was quoting grade 5 stats. I can see the value in only upgrading them to a range where you want to work at.

ThinderI'm using FIXED Lasers, just saying.

That's another important factor, I use gimbled. Closer is better for fixed, and that being the situation I can see why you'd want to work with Short Range mod. It's not my preference but I can see the logic you are going with.

No, I went for range rather than ultimate DMG, it's already well superior to Long Range, I have little problem using Fixed Beams, one get used to it.

My 4A MULTI-CANNON and 2F MULTI-CANNON [GIMBALLED] Damage Falloff starts at 2000m, that of the Beam Lasers 600m, and MULTI-CANNON accuracy also goes down although nothing is said about it, I can see the hits, this build is design for scrap at medium to short range.
Btw have a very small amount of gimbal, they'll find the target at Max range.

Just wondering about modshards, after i have unlocked from the broker can i purchase for credits?
09 Oct 2024, 4:57am
No. Modshards are a “purchase” item which goes directly to your inventory and you have to provide the same materials again to get another.

Why, ask Frontier. I guess they thought it would have been too easy to get Guardian weapons other than gauss which are actually usable the standard way of unlocking.

So Plasma chargers are the same as modshards?

Luke WilliamsSo Plasma chargers are the same as modshards?

You get the standard gauss, plasma charger, shard cannon which you unlock once, and then you buy as many as you like for credits only (similar to guardian module and shield reinforcements)

Then you have the modified versions of these weapons, modified gauss (small & medium), modified plasma chargers (small & medium), modshards (sml & med)
There is not modified large version of these weapons but modified medium can be more powerful than standard large
Unlocking the modified weapons is similar to getting the pre-engineered FSD or pre-engineered heatsink, it costs the full list of the materials to get one.
So if you want to get 2 med modshard cannons, you'll need 2x guardian weapon blueprint fragments, 10 Guardian Wreckage Components, etc

Someone mentioned something called "power play". How do you "enter" it? I can only see it as one option on the map.
Open play, private group, solo, arena, train. This is it.

Edit: here it is https://inara.cz/elite/board-thread/2/477593/#477593

Powerplay isn't a game mode but an in-game activity. In a nutshell, you pledge to support one of the galactic powers and then do missions for them to help them expand their sphere of influence. Each powerplay faction offers certain rewards in the form of ship modules. For example, to be able to buy prismatic shield generators, you have to support Aisling Duval for a while. There's a powerplay page accessible from the panel on the right side in your cockpit.

Btw, that part of the game will get an overhaul soon, so any info you're looking up now may soon be obsolete.

Thanks. I knew I have seen it mentioned somewhere but did not recall where. I'll take a look.

Looks like the bug is still not fixed - cant take 2 ore more "scan data link" missions. Only one will work, the rest need to be abandoned.

AH Human NPC fighting.

A) grab a frame shift interdictor and fly around in supercruise looking for 'wanted' targets and work your way through the ranks of harmless to expert (interdicting is a good to have skill)
B) take combat missions from a station. (missions that pay 1.5 million plus will often be elite targets with good engineering so take missions with low pay and no 'wing recommended' / 'dangerous' icons and work your way up).
-- If you do take missions, be sure to READ the mission briefing ... some missions may want you to scan an outpost for your target which you'll need an SCV for, while others will simply need you to scan a nav beacon. There will also be details about distance; don't take missions where you need to fly 300k LY to a target. Missions where you need an SRV definitely FEEL really difficult but when done properly they are a hidden gem of ED
C) try undermining. This is where you pledge to one of the powerplay powers then fly to an enemy control system and shoot down the relevant ships. Usually the ships are of easy to moderate difficulty and rarely of elite difficulty. You will need an FSD interdictor. Look in the powerplay tab in the right-hand panel on your ship for more info. This might change with the upcoming pp2.0 update but I expect undermining wont change drastically so it's a good way to experience another level of the game). Don't worry too much about this having an actual effect on powerplay - usually you need to kill well over 200 ships for undermining to have an effect

I went for the option B. Took few low paying pirate killings and those were really easy. Then I got few that pay abut half to a mill+. No sculls or team.
Now I am getting interdict literally the moment I show up in the system or on my way to the next target. LOL. Not once but usually 2x per short trip. Good target following practice.

Not 100% sure I follow... do you mean you are getting interdicted or you are the interdictor?

Do you have something in your cargo hold? What are the NPCs who are pulling you saying?
09 Oct 2024, 8:36pm
That's an old form of amusement, to carry biowaste and look at NPCs babbling about tasty cargo.

They (NPC) are trying to pull me off the FTL. I have no idea what they want because I never see them. I keep going because their interdictions are kinda easy to beat.
I have 8 limpets in my cargo. I was planning to use those to pick up the valuable stuff after I blow up the pirate ship. Damn limpets do not work at all. Cant recall having this problem before.

I’ll just give people a warning here that Raijin will likely not get any invasions tomorrow due to the pushback against it (and Frontier’s boneheaded decision to limit them to a 10ly “attack range” that makes zero lore sense?). Fortunately for those who don’t want to move to Cocijo (immediately), there will be a few systems with stations that get reactivated around this former Titan.

After that, it’s probably getting shot up without resistance, since this story lost its interesting factor a few months ago and the writers (those that are left …) don’t seem to have a clue what to do with it other than being told “This needs to be off the main stage with PuWerPlEy 2.0”.

Are you doing missions? If so, they could be due to a mission. There are times that a mission target will turn the tables and try to interdict you, or drop in close to you if you are at a nav beacon. It gets fun of you have 3 or four pilot assassinate missions in a system and they all show up at once.

Also, in most secure systems, the system authority will sometimes try to interdict you for a random check. You know, in case you are drunk flying or have outdated license plates, or whatever.

There is generally a text feed that serves as a warning you are about to be interdicted and why such as "That's the big haul I've been looking for." or something similar. Unless you are paying attention to the comms (I usually do not) you will miss it. Once the interdiction starts, I target the nearest object, 99% of the time it is whoever is interdicting me. If they are wanted, and I feel like a fight, I'll submit and start shooting.

Questions for Fleet Carrier owners:
(1) How did owning an FC change your playstyle (if at all)? What is now different for combat, trading, exploration, mining etc.?
(2) What do you wish to have as additional options for your FC (outfitting, customization etc.)?
(3) Did you ever regret having an FC? (e.g. because of maintenance costs or lack of feeling "alone" in your one ship)
