BelalcazarI am mostly just trying to find a main ship to fly for most things. Like missions and a little bit of combat. I don’t like how the anaconda cannot land at a lot of places.

You should go for the Python then. It can land anywhere, is by far the best miner ship in the game, has large cargo space if needed. Only downside is no fighter bay but it has lots of hard points to make up for it. It also handles heat while refueling or using beams very well.

python...most cargo for somethign that can land everywhere, enough compartments for proper mining and sturdy enough and enough hardpoints for combat.....

Python's a good shout! Probably the best mission board ship you'll get that can land at outposts. Alternatives could be the Asp Explorer (better range), Cobra (cheaper), Federal Drop ship (Needs fed rank).
Any of those should give you a fair bit of flexibility to do most things on a mission board with the right outfitting

I had an Asp Explorer for a long time using it for missions and travel, I used a T6 for mining also for what seemed like forever but it has a really hard time defending itself. So I ended up liquidating my fleet which also included a Vulture to get the Python. My only gripe about the Phyton is that you don't sit in the center of the ship to pilot it, messes with my OCD.... Anyway best move I ever made because it allowed me to build a fleet on its back which now sits all over the bubble and I use a long range DBX to taxi between them LOL.

my moneymaking machine still remains an explorer....decent jump , and good speed as well...and much cheaper than the python...in fact i was really worried to take my python out of the hangar, fear that it might get scratched........

.but allthough python has a better load-out, the price, the speed . jump, upgrade, repair on an Asp Explorer are really much better...and it's a cozy ship to travel around...!

Seconding the Asp Explorer recommendation. Really enjoyed that ship. Better smuggler than a Python, too.

Once you've established yourself though, for my money specialization is where the fun is. Have a few mediums/smalls that each do their job really well.

One of my biggest problems is missions types. Some of them are so confusing or require so many things on my ship that I don’t have, that instead I end up grinding which makes me not want to play after a few days. Some missions seem fun, but I either can’t seem to figure them out, or get killed (assassin missions) lol

Even though I loved my aspx I always find something about each ship that bugs me.... I pay to much attention to details damn it... anyway the aspx is a perfect ship but sounds like a WWII biplane lol. Your right about the cost though.

Well the Aspx and the cobra MKIII are good multi-role ships but the problem is that you are not going to have one build that does it all. You have to set it up for combat and have a different setup for passenger missions, or long range explorer missions, or assassin missions. Eventually you will get to a point where you have a combat ship and a mission ship and an explorer ship because it gets tiring to swap components all the time. The Viper MKIII, Cobra MKIII are really good for combat setups for Bounty hunting and assassin missions.

I have both the AspX and the Python. While I can get a better range with the AspX (I don't engineer anything), my big complaint about it compared to the Python is that it is slushy to control. The lag that ship has in response is considerably worse compared to any other ship I have.

On another note, my wife got me an Acer VR rig for Christmas. While I'm sure it's not as much of a hassle to setup as a lighthouse-based rig, sheesh, it's definitely still quirky business. The whole Windows 10 Mixed Reality Portal vs SteamVR is a battle. SteamVR crashes frequently or ends up off-center alignment. It usually takes a clean reboot and going straight into all the VR apps to get ED to spin up correctly.

BUT, once it does. ED is absolutely the "why" for VR. I find no other useful purpose for VR in anything I do, but for ED, there's just no other way to play it. I can see now why a handful of people have gone so far as to build an actual motion chair to go along with it. I was more impressed than I was expecting to be. I was out Foster Terminal, a megaship nestled inside the ice rings of a gas giant, and the view was spectacular. In fact, it didn't take long flitting around there that I began to get a little motion sickness (I don't do rollercoasters). And, after comparing the cockpits, I can really appreciate more the full visibility of the AspX and the roominess of the Python cockpits.

I now just have to do some tweaking to reduce the stuttering I sometimes see during gameplay. It's possibly the NVidia drivers (I'm running the latest on a 1070).

So kinda a gripe a bit I should not have to do CGs in solo because their is a guy killing people at the CG because he can. Had to eat two rebuys on my trade Conda because of it.

Have you looked into the Mobius private group? Play with others, but strictly PvE.
