Brynhild HervorsdottirGo with the fuel scoop, it has no weight and gives you an infinite means of fueling yourself without stopping, vice the fuel tank, which adds more weight and only adds 4 more tons of fuel.

Although if your wingmates are flying big ships like Anacondas or Cutters, I'd personally bully them into carrying fuel limpet controllers.

True that. I also wondered about making combat capable ASP Scout at some point, but that would throw up a price being over 300k what could be risky with left 3 million credits. Decisions, decisions... I like Viper to be honest due to its size and capabilities when winged.

Keep the viper, it's honestly not a bad ship at all and you'll work out how to deal with its problems. The asp Scout is alright but it's nothing special. It has high manoeuvrability but low speed, and it's big too, meaning although you can spin about, you're going to get shot at and hit fairly often. The Diamondback Scout might be a good plan though. I'd save up for it and kit one out, they run super cold too, which means you can get a bit creative with your weapons

Another option is to start some engineering! With 3.0 on the verge of going live, it would be the perfect time if you've not tried it out yet. An enhanced range FSD will do you no wrong on a Viper, especially if you're out and about with friends

I'll second this, Elvira does FSD upgrades and is about the easiest to unlock.

Felicity Farseer too and I think she's in a more convenient spot.

Alexander RozhenkoHey,

Can anyone tell me how the Wing ranks work in Inara Wings?
I'm currently listed as a recruit...how do I move up?

Your Wing Commander (of your particular player faction) controls the pilots ranking under him/her.
Check with your leader.

Thanks folks, perhaps my Wimg Commander needs to ask how to manage ranks in his wing....

Farseer is far harder to unlock (scout rank). Elvira needs 300ly from your start and 3 Soontil relics, bought about 240ly from most starts. 3-6 jumps past, grab them on the way back and you're done.

If all you need is FSD, Martuuk all day erry day.

I actually unlocked Farseer at the same time as Martuuk. One journey from Eravate to the Pleiades will swing that quite nicely.

Also, I wouldn't call unlocking Martuuk any easier than unlocking Farseer, not that both aren't hilariously easy. All you need for Scout is around 270,000 credits of exploration data profit. That's three or four unpopulated systems' worth of scan data.

Ngurii is still easier than the Pleiades for a newbie despite them being at nearly the same distance for one very simple reason. Ngurii is in the bubble, so you have refuel/repair stops in case you mess up. There is no such thing on the way to get the Meta Alloys for Farseer.

No danger on a long distance trip? Well, that's no fun at all.

"Ships are safer in port, but that's not what they're made for."

Depends on the experience of the Cmdr, I guess. For what it’s worth my opinion is that Martuuk is a better option for real newbs, once their FSD has better range, and they are better skilled, then head for the Pleiades

In my experience, just load up the best ship u can afford and doo them All,a fuelscope, some cargo space if needed, and doo them 1 by 1...2-3(or 5) weeks of ingame playing passes u in a confort zone, and be done with it,pick up stuff along ur way and like magic most of ur modules(engineerered) or the ship u desire is within reach.
Money is easy, time and devotion is the real prize of the game,u will be left with 3-4 of them thats gona test ur devotion, and u pass that too,on feeling too invested allready, the real challenge soon gona be a time saver and flat out unique ships(still beta),and then its nice to allready been done with that part, even if a couple of npc interdictions sounds scary its the least anyone should be able too handle...dont think there is too much shortcuts in this, maybe that can save u 2-3 days.
Game seems fixed that way,u have to make 2 tripps or so ,for stuff u otherwise have space for and soo on(planned cargospace will save Ly's=time)

So Martuk or not,doo them all,and u have same line as the proes.

good advises then comes too building ships armored for fighting Thargoids,Npc or Humans, all have diifrent styles even flying a Flag ship,i know by hard luck experiece

Requires no special skills, for a average gamer...just walk the line(J.C.;)..)

Detention Centres. When defeated by authorities, CMDRs with bounties will be forced to pay their rebuy costs, fines, and bounties in full; CMDRs with insufficient funds will go bankrupt and be forced to accept a loaned Sidewinder MkI. They will then respawn at a Detention Centre Megaship in a system near where they were defeated. Detention Centres lack Shipyard and Outfitting facilities, and will spawn CMDRs in Solo instances to protect them from spawn-camping until they jump to Supercruise or another system.

Of all upcoming changes, I am pretty cautionous about that one. We are all been there, hitting authority ship by pure accident and getting destroyed. Now imagine a situation in which you are pushed into detention center and pay a lot of money just because that Viper just appeared out of nowhere between your target and your PA.

I think Frontier should give CMDRs a bigger error gap, like in case of allied ships which tell you "to watch fire", instead of gaining instant bounty and possible HELLO LAWBREAKER BLAM DED.

I unlocked Farseer on my first (and so far only) trip to the Pleiades to help out at The Oracle in a Cobra MKIII. But took a fuel scoop along, and only had to repair some minor damage (on arrival) from getting too close to a star while scooping.

Shortly thereafter got contacted by Martuuk as well. But only done some work at Farseer so far, of the two, AFTER my visit to the Pleiades. So, what I am trying to say is, that it can be done before unlocking any engineer.
