...and it doesn't help when asking a simple a55 question and getting confused with even more confusing answers.

Here's a simple one. Try and see if you can put together a build like this
If it's too much, then i guess you're Sidewinder should be enough, but fair warning, you'll struggle a bit. After that just head anywhere outside the bubble (that's the area that falls under the influence of the major factions) and look for populated systems a bit further off but surrounded by empty systems. Usually, these systems have a nearby system that's also populated, but rarely more than one; they make up sort of a paired system setup. If you want some examples, look no further than Nootayuto , Niu Hsing or Hu Jini and Aditi but that's a bit further. You can also try getting to Ceos but that's much further away. And those are just a few of them. The first thing you wanna do once you get to one of these systems is to dock to a station and check the bulletin board. Look for Boom Data Delivery missions in particular because they require you to deliver data wich doesn't take any cargo space and more often than not you'll receive time bonuses that can add up to quite alot. Cargo space is recommended because sometimes these missions award commodities wich do take cargo space. That's why you need at least 4 cargo to begin. My personal recommendation is to head over to Nootayuto (checked it recently enough as to be quite sure it wasn't nerfed or the faction state changed making them unable to give courier missions. at least i hope so) or try to get to Ceos. Actually Ceos is the only one on this list that stayed consistent ever since horizons launched. An added bonus is that the Sirius Corp has a presence in the system, and making them allies will be useful later on (unlocking Quent)

Guess that's it for now. So all you have to do is head over and do these missions. A bit boring and repetitive but that's what FDEV wants us to do. Alternatively you can try your best with a Cyclops , clench your teeth and hope for the best. All of that while worrying when the next weapon nerf is gonna come. As for profits... 2 mil a piece... or something. While other ppl just run courier missions and make that in a single trip.

Does anyone know if items like escape pods, wreckage components, etc that we collect in decoded sites add to influence as I have lots of them collected during exploration in the bubble?

Any help greatly appreciated.

If you sell them on the black market, it'll lower influence of the station's owner (a nonsense which needs to change in Anarchy systems asap).

I don't know about handing them into the lawful authorities, sorry; I don't deal with them!

If you are looking to unlock Selene Jean you are gonna need to mine 500t of resources anyway, so 10 of them may as well be Painite?

I did my mining a long time ago, before there were engineers. I would like to avoid going through the ordeal now, just to unlock an engineer.

Everyone says Painite is a pain in the ite to get but I guess I got lucky. Let me know if you want some tips.

Same for me,but i kept it hanging like a shadow...once started it was a relativly short deal.
Game reqirements,JUST a engineer or not...feel like quoting Shakespare
