"Red" DaxaDid a test with my brother with a comparable damage output with gimballed beams, pulse and burst, on a MOVING target:
at 800m distance, and 1600 meter! The target was moving around with a constant speed and constant intervals

Surprise, the damage is about the same.
Beam slides easier "off" the target, making it less efficicient, therefor less effective,
Burst is about 10% more effective below 800 meter, above that pulse is slightly more damage, all measured over a timeframe of 5sec and 10 seconds

again, based on moving target.

It will depend on your combat style

I prefer beams, because it's the future, they make it seem like it's the future, and they are cool to look at!

My PvE build on my Fer-de-Lance includes a trio of rapid fire scramble spectrum pulse lasers- not because they're more effective, but because the special effect makes them look awesome.

That is how shallow I am.

The rule of cool is an important rule in PVE builds.

I have an all-multicannon setup on my FdL. It's mainly for PvE in CZ's and is ridiculously noisy and good fun!

The big one has Incendiary Rounds, one of the 2's has Corrosive Shell and another has Thermal Shock (not out of design - I won it at the engineer's stall )

I have the big gun and two of the smaller mounts as efficient beam lasers, and a pair of cannons. A high-end low emissions power plant keeps it cool, but it took a lot of engineering to get the power balance just right.

A cool running FDL nowadays is a thing of beauty.

Random ChaosIbut it took a lot of engineering to get the power balance just right.

Glad these kinds of problems will be gone once we get 3.0. No more unreal amounts of RNG inflicted rolls and thus wasted time. Finally we'll get everything going up and staying up as well.

Best change ever to come to date and making Engineering a worthwhile endeavour.

A Huge Beam on mine to strip the shields then four multi-cannons, two incendiary and two corrosive.

It's definitely among the best of the combat ships (some would say the best). What weapon loadout did you go with out of interest?

4 medium pulse lasers and huge multicannon for now. It's still being finetuned as a loadout.

I usually go for beam lasers, are pulse better?

I'm also partial to the beams, but I see the wisdom here. The FDL is so agile that the time on target is almost unlimited. The energy savings of pulses lets you just keep on pounding.

I think I've got mine rigged the opposite of this - with a huge laser and medium multis. Either way, this thing is a beast in a CZ.

I fitted my Ferdie with beams and pulse, two of each, and have alternated huge M/C and PA according to my mood. I read somewhere that a mix strips shields more efficiently...dunno if that’s true but they sure work fine for me.

Reverend TZWA Huge Beam on mine to strip the shields then four multi-cannons, two incendiary and two corrosive.

corrosive doesnt stack, so you really only need one. also incendiary will make them do thermal damage instead of kinetic, which makes them less effective against hulls and better used for taking down shields. just a tip

Four pulses and one multicannon does exactly what I need the FDL to do: scream in, shoot down any ship for a single combat bond, punch out and fly to the nearest station to turn the bond in to remind the BGS who's boss, then repeat 9 more times. My FDL is a pure BGS hammer, everything else on top of that is just for fun.

I don't know how you guys, but I'm hyper for what will happen in Beyond. So, it's content will be free for Horizon users, that's right? But how do you think they'll push additional content? As an add-on or as an overall update for the Core files? If I understand right, getting Horizons only unlocked the files that were already inside (updated?) Core Engine.

I think it is actually a very serious question for the people who use "slow" internet, which is pretty pain for download but works flawlessly in case of action-packed stuff.

I recall that the complete 2018 updates will be free for Horizon owners. Unless that changed.

There will be some content that has to be paid for. Lifetime pass owners get it for free.[/quote]
