Ryan MurdocI recall that the complete 2018 updates will be free for Horizon owners. Unless that changed.

There will be some content that has to be paid for. Lifetime pass owners get it for free.

Ah, ok then.

You ever notice how a damaged escape pod is worth more than an occupied escape pod?

That particular side activity (collecting pods or personal effects) aren't worth the time invested when taking into account the possible payoffs per effort required. Or at least that's what i think.

Me, i remember last time when i went to Maia, i managed to snatch one of them occupied pods right from under a cyclops variant (incidentally made him angry too). Payoff was about 2000 creds due to Maia being a hot system at the time (payouts were increased compared to the usual reward), but still not worth the effort. But that's just what i think.

Not worth the effort? Think of the human life you saved from a fate possibly worse than death.

I have.

But that doesn't change the fact that they still are a bit to blame for being in the situation they're in when i (or anyone else for that matter) happens to find them (sometimes purely out of accident or coincidence). In fact, i think it's safe to assume they are largely to blame for the afore mentioned situation. Why would i say that? Well it's simple if you think about it. If they would have stayed put inside bubble space (relatively safe and well defended territory; for now) they wouldn't be stuck inside an escape pod, being at the mercy of extragalactic invaders, now would they? But they opted for adventure, and danger... and eventually deth (you'll have to watch the full movie for that to make sense )

So what can we (the commanders) do then? Well save as many as we can ofc. But you won't see me armwrestling a threat 7 cyclops all by myself just to be able to snag a couple of confused tourists and then get a pat on the shoulder as thanks. I meen let's be realistic here.

How I wish there were more realists around. Hit the nail on the head right there.

I salute you good man. o7

I enjoy the search and rescue gameplay, its fun. Doesn't need to earn you megabucks. In fact i dont think it would be fair to increase the reward pay out given how easy it is.

Its a nice way to get new and less skilled pilots like myself involved in the Thargoid Story without having to risk it all trying ton kill one

Plus if you want to be a realist, compare it to real life. Firemen don't do the work they do for the money, they do it for the pride in saving lives and helping their community

Indeed, but if we look at the story in this game and how / why Thargoids are finally retaliating to what was done to them - sorry, but everyone that works for INRA / AEGIS should know whats coming to them.

You don't attempt Genocide on a race and then cry foul when they come back to kick your ass for being mass murderers.

And let's not start about the Commanders shooting everything on sight without researching what type of alien they're actually targeting. That's all the evidence one needs that the fear of the unknown still trumps every other thought when you face something you don't understand and perceive as threat.

Humanity in 3304 still hasn't evolved beyond their most basic instincts.

And yet, in spite of that, they seem to have done pretty well for themselves. Trillions of people, thousands of planets settled, the furthest reaches of our galaxy visited by our explorers, thriving and diverse cultures, and cutting edge technology that borders on the magical.

Folks don't need fixing, seems to me.

I mean... You can't just lump all of humanity together like that anyway. Comparing Firemen/rescuers to potential War-criminals/aegis/inra. Thats a bit of a stretch.

By that reasoning no one is good, everyone is evil, so why bother. Thats a pretty bleak and shitty outlook to have.

Those who rush to the help of others are putting their own life in danger for the mistakes and failures caused by others.

As to the bleak and shitty outlook I'd suggest you read up on the history of humanity. There are phases where we made rapid progress in certain areas, but always fell back due to the primal instincts (Greed, lust for power etc.) materialising themselves in persons who acted upon them and left nothing but destruction in their wake.

Everyone on this world is capable of to be caring and helpful, as well as being merciless. You can kill someone else as much as the next guy to put it bluntly.

Does that make you just as bad as the "griefers" then?

Worse, maybe.

Considering I never killed another player in this game nor have the intend to do so - No.

There are certainly those who should be killed back to their Sidewinders, but that would mean that they'd receive the most precius thing another human being could give them - their Life time.

I prefer to waste mine in a more joyful manner then to grant it to those who don't deserve it in the first place. To ignore their cravings to be recognised or to simply deny their existence is worse then getting beaten up over and over again.

I suggest you read upon it yourself.

Wars and conflict in general is an incredible catalyst for technology and are not seldomly caused by greed. Saying that wars leave 'nothing but destruction' in their wake is plainly wrong.
