Is anyone else just getting a "Purchase" option when running the game launcher?
I've noticed it being a bit flaky of late and usually closing / opening it again has cleared the option and allowed my to launch the game but this time closing / opening - restarting or even closing down the system completely and booting from scratch won't clear it.
I've tried opening the launcher with no third party tools running just in case there was some kind of conflict going on.
Until the recent updates I have had no problems getting the game running, I wish they (FDev) would stop buggering things up!
EDIT: Now I am getting the option to "Install", WTF is going on!

Does waiting a minute or two fix your problem? If not, I recommend contacting FDev support by opening a ticket.
Edit: If it doesn't update automatically, try selecting a different game mode (e.g. Elite Dangerous without Horizons, or Arena) and then re-select the original game mode.

KowganShengar, sometimes, since the latest updates, I will see the "Install" button instead of "Play" as soon as I open the launcher. After a few seconds, the button updates to "Play" and I can launch the game normally. AFAIK it's just the launcher initializing, reading disk data and updating the news.
Does waiting a minute or two fix your problem? If not, I recommend contacting FDev support by opening a ticket.

Thanks for getting back to me and the helpful suggestions
Waiting for quite a few minutes makes no difference I'm afraid.
I did eventually get to a screen that asked me to "Update" by restarting the launcher multiple times, then switching to the non horizons version of the game gave me a "Play" option and then switching back to horizons had changed to "Play".
I hope this is not going to be a regular occurrence.
It really should not be this painful just to get the game running

If you're launching through Steam, I've found selecting "Play Elite Dangerous" rather than "Play Elite Dangerous: Horizons" seems to work (and I can in fact still select Horizons from the launcher that comes up). Hope that works for you!

Thanks for the advice. I don't log in through steam but it's good to know in a sad kind of way that it's not only myself who is experiencing this :/
I managed to get past the problem after multiple logins.
Let's hope it gets fixed soon

Stevex916ukHello again Cmdrs.. after deploying collector limpet on non-targeted collect. The limpet after collecting all around me is just sitting below ship. Can I collect it? thanks...
I'm afraid not .when deploying the comp programs them very specifically and returning to your hold is not part of that program... they just hang a round untill more stuff to collect is in range or they run out of gas.

you might be surprised but it's a salute that goes decades back.... see it as a smiley with the arm/wrist saluting- with the left hand O7

No room for anything but the bare essentials in a DBX. So no, no repair limpets.
Oh well, adds a bit of spice to the rest of the way there and back.

Actually all you need to do is deploy your cargo scoop and they will fly right in.

53%? The glass is still more than half-full! You can easily make Colonia, so long as you don't stop for more pancakes.
I remember my first high-G pancake. Well, it wasn't really a pancake, it was more of a side-flop. Note to the new pilots: vertical thrusters are much more capable than the lateral ones, so rolling turns to find a good landing spot is... ill-advised on a high-G world. Always glide in, gently, gently, and be ready to pitch up and boost if it gets sketchy.
