DarkplasmaMy first question

What are the STAR types that are ( OK ) to draw FUEL from with out over heating ?

Others have provided the star classes in an easy-to-remember acronym. It's true that, of those stars, different classes will overheat your ship quicker than others. The further away from the orbital threshold, the slower your scoop will work, but there's a bit of a sweet spot of speed you can whip around (regardless of your orbital distance) to reach the top scoop rate your particular scoop can absorb. Once you reach that top rate at a safe temperature distance, drop your throttle to idle. You'll virtually "park" and gulp up fuel with minimum effort.

Once you get the best fuel scoop you can, you'll spend only a few seconds scooping, and be full before you begin to overheat.

No module damage but hull down to 53%.

<facepalm>

53%? The glass is still more than half-full! You can easily make Colonia, so long as you don't stop for more pancakes.

I remember my first high-G pancake. Well, it wasn't really a pancake, it was more of a side-flop. Note to the new pilots: vertical thrusters are much more capable than the lateral ones, so rolling turns to find a good landing spot is... ill-advised on a high-G world. Always glide in, gently, gently, and be ready to pitch up and boost if it gets sketchy.

Stevex916ukHello again Cmdrs.. after deploying collector limpet on non-targeted collect. The limpet after collecting all around me is just sitting below ship. Can I collect it? thanks...

I'm afraid not .when deploying the comp programs them very specifically and returning to your hold is not part of that program... they just hang a round untill more stuff to collect is in range or they run out of gas.

Actually all you need to do is deploy your cargo scoop and they will fly right in.

They don't enter the hold as Behamuth put, they just hang about under it, I have noticed if you target something then after the limpet collects it will destroy itself only collecting one item.

On the above post I pressed the wrong quote, can it be deleted?

I'm guessing your shields weren't up or you didn't have that module (to save mass)? I feel your pain. Last year, when I made my trek from the Core Systems out to Colonia (which I now call Home), I travelled in my DBX. I was half way there when I was just a bit too tired and was descending on a planet, close to a mountain, in order to go out and grab some materials. I didn't have my shields up. Instead of hitting my Down Thrusters, I accidentally hit the Boost, and smacked myself into the side of the mountain. Hull = 30% at that point. I had a single AFMS, but didn't have any room for limpets. Needless to say, I was VERY careful for the rest of the trip.

It's always a struggle to figure out what to take with you and what not. The small ships can certainly make the long treks and can certainly be used for exploration. But it's like driving from NY to LA in a Smart Car. The medium ships are a bit of a tease, because you DO have more module space, but it always seems you are just one module short of your ideal configuration. That's how I felt about my AspX. And, actually even my Python. My Anaconda really affords me everything I'd like to take--but it requires me to engineer the modules in order to get acceptable jump range.

Either your cargo hatch is not open or the particular material it holds has been maxed out in your inventory.

Oh yeah, whole lot of [DATA EXPUNGED] out there. Hip deep in [RESTRICTED TO LEVEL 5 SECURITY CLEARANCE].

I'm not going to Colonia, but yeah, I could probably make it there, if I were.

Like I said ^ there somewhere, just adds a little spice to the rest of the journey.

I'll have to find somewhere to land before the Champions League tomorrow night. That'll probably be a major leap forward.

Yep, shields were up. I landed really hard, just as I turned back from the TV, didn't even have time to see how fast I was going. The impact took the shields down, no bother. On reflection, not sure 'landed' is the right word, to be honest.

I use the DBX for it's 52 -58 ly jump range. My Asp will only barely do 50 with fuel for one jump. I could probably D rate it all to save mass, but then the limpet controller would add a bit back on, so swings and roundabouts, really.

Random thought of the day: offensive AMFU mod from engineers.

AMFU carries no ammunition for charges, instead pulling parts from disabled enemy ships to repair your own vessel while damaging the ship whose parts are being harvested in the process.

Probably not the most useful thing, but it sounds fun in my head.

Just shows how much many players want something to happen in the game badly.
