dose any one understand it

can some one help me

My apologies, I thought you were trolling at first about making a starport so I just joined in

What is it you're trying to do? Get your player group faction added into the game itself?

Ryan MurdocAre we as a species so limited that we can only elevate ourselves through the use of violence?

In short, yes. As a guy on Political Studies with wide (hobbyist, but still) historical knowledge, I can only say the faster development happens through war and war-like moments in our history. The modern space programmes were sped up (if not made possible) by the German Nazi research in regard to the rocket technology. During the Cold War's space race we pushed ourselves as a humanity into space and them Moon just because there had been rivality between Washington and Moscow. It wasn't even a decade between first man to space and first man to moon.

However.

It's been around 40 years since last man was on the other stellar body. Something went wrong on the way, But not only because of lack of any major conflict. Yes, we are brutal species which develop faster during time of war. But there is also hope, such as SpaceX. They went under five years from utter failures into the successful launches into space.

However, still after decades after last man to the Moon.

As to the bleak and shitty outlook I'd suggest you read up on the history of humanity. There are phases where we made rapid progress in certain areas, but always fell back due to the primal instincts (Greed, lust for power etc.) materialising themselves in persons who acted upon them and left nothing but destruction in their wake.

I suggest you read upon it yourself.

Wars and conflict in general is an incredible catalyst for technology and are not seldomly caused by greed. Saying that wars leave 'nothing but destruction' in their wake is plainly wrong.

That has to be one of the most inanely stupid comments that I've ever seen.

Rebecca is right, War is often a catalyst for science and research....think of radio, radar, jets, atomic bomb, micro-wave, and so many things....and often a "play ground" for new technologies: think of the first Iraq war...was mostly a testbed...

but the reason to wage war is usually economics (resources (Iraq II someone?)), political (diverting social unrest outwardly or cultural binding inwardly) or religion (allthough that is usually a front for economics and political reasons)...

Actually, a total war economy (where many of those advances were born) sucks scientists from other areas of research (such as humantitarian science) and puts them onto building more efficient ways of killing. Occasionally we get accidental benefits to society, but these are usually accelerations of peacetime research so we're just getting something a few years ealier. To suggest that the death and maiming of tens of millions, the total destruction of infrastructure and the resulting long-term suffering is actully OK because we got microwave ovens ten years earlier is, well, a bit silly.

A) I did not suggest that wars are okay. All I did is correct Murdocs original statement. Conflict in general has not only negative sides. It doesn't even need to be a hot war. The cold war for example is responsible for a multitude of things we have in civilian life today.

B) War-time research and peace-time research are way closer than you might expect. Alone the medical and dual-use research are huge factors beneficial to civilian life afterwards. Vehicle development and material science, as well as construction design all benefit civilian life as well.

If you want to retract your "inanely stupid comment" comment, now is the time.

Since we're so limited, there's hope we get to a higher level of understanding (and without the use of drugs) someday.

After all, we as species in our current form exist for only a fraction of time compared to the age of this planet. Let's see if we can overcome someday and get better.

Hope dies last as they say.

Jemine CaesarBut we are not, and I trust never will be, without compassion, love and hope.

Those will never go away. It's hardwired into us.

Lyon DeLacy...It's been around 40 years since last man was on the other stellar body. Something went wrong on the way...

There aren't enough muney to do that anymore, shockingly as it sounds it seems to be the truth. Ever since ppl took a habit of hoarding more and more money in the bank and governments being forced to print more and more money to compensate, thus leading to increases in inflation, poor performance economy and all sorts of other nasty issues; spending tens of billions of dollars just to send a few ppl 1 ls away in space and back just doesn't seem so important and worthwhile anymore.

Here's a song that better portrays how things stand, it also makes it easier to get the situation we currently find ourselves in. Enjoy

I'd rather ride a bicycle into a neutron star with no space suit than be seen helping the Feds.
26 Feb 2018, 12:30am
your not helping the feds your helping the station that's independent

Your faction is a Federal faction.

How is that *not* helping the Feds?
