Twinky StinkyYou can change your route setting to only have certain types of stars (fuel stars). In doing this almost every jump will be a fuel star. But then again if people knew how to do this the rats would be out of a job, unless your the type trying to make a 10+ jump with no scoop.

If you do that, you won't stumble on all the gems tho. The current route plotting will ensure it always routes you to a fuel star when you're about to run out, you just have to pay enough attention to refill there.

Isaiah EvansonYou'll want to be able to make some long jumps if you go to the Rift. Even in my 55 LY DBX, I had to do some creative pathfinding in some places. Conflux and the Gap are easy to travel though.

Be sure to check out the Zurara if you go to the Rift. Some very intriguing things in that ship.

Cheers CMDR, I'm keen to see everything the rift has to offer. Came all the way out to Colonia what's a little bit more travelling Hey! I have my 40lyr asp explorer so it should be fine. I had some hairy moments on the way to Colonia from the bubble where I realised almost too late that I was almost out of juice after 3 brown star systems

My Explora-Conda had 43Ly jump range and I struggled to find a route. As Cmdr Isaiah says, you have to be creative! Take plenty of Materials for synthesis, and an SRV to scavenge more if needed.
+1 on the Zurara...spooky stuff 07

Dont forget, a mining laser as well to harvest materials from astroids.

Took a stock dbx out once to the rift as well. Push the ly as far as possible. One of the jumps barely misjumped because i was lacking .02ly. So take synthesys! And 2 srvs are enough (usually). Take one to collect some Materials planetside and have a fun drive, and the other one to explore the bases.

Sadly i didnt visit the zurara. It took me a week to travel 9.000 lys allthough i switched places with my brother regularly so i didnt had to jump myself all the time.

I recommend using the neutron router spansh (google it)  and check for Elite Dangerous Utilities (again. Google it) to (maybe) find some interesting sites on the way.

One last thing: you may expierience the feeling that you want to turn back. Do not feel afraid to turn back to change ships because that one didnt suit you. Afterall, you'll spend minimum a week in it.

I wanted to go out in a dolphin at first (was my fav ship at that point) but self destr. After 1000ly because it wasnt suitable at all. (Thats why i said that i traveled 9.000ly and not the usual 8.000 that it should take.

You'll get data intels at i think alpha and beta site. Dont know how much. I crashed into the planet when visiting gamma site in the dark and lost all Intels but it should be around 8mill per site.

By the way; it might be useful to open cannon researche page of the FMD Rift (Formidine Rift)

o7. Good luck and enjoy every vista. Exploration takes a lot of time so dont hurry. The journey is the destination!  Commander Tictac; out

If you try spansh be aware that neutron boosts do small amounts of damage to the integrity of your FSD, which does accumulate. If you have the internals then an AFMU is a good idea

On the topic of neutrons what would you do if you somehow managed to drop out of super cruise into the cone of a neutron.

1: Disable everything you can to lower heat
2: Plot a normal jump to a system in the general direction you're facing
3: Aim towards the system you chose as best you can
4: FA off
5: Throttle to zero and keep it there until you jump
6: Boost once, then just coast and try to stay pointed at the target system
7: Charge FSD, dropping heatsinks as needed
8: Boost once when you are pointing at the target system (FA still off, throttle still zero)
9: Once in the new system, assess damage, repair, refuel, grab a well earned drink

This has about a 50% success rate.

You make it sound like you have done this a few times CMDR!

Twice, in white dwarfs which are easier in an Asp and one terrifying neutron star in a T-10. I've walked others through it in a neutron star and seen videos, most of which give the 50% number. The big reason you FA off and throttle zero is to keep heading to the jump target, then all you have to do is point close enough for an instant. The last boost is just to straighten trajectory and may not even be needed.

If you're taking a larger ship, pack two AFMU - one large for all your maintenance and one small, to repair the bigger one.
