Reverend TZWAbout 1000 Lys out from the bubble heading for the Formidine Rift,

It's possible that streak of light is a line of bright stars, B-class perhaps. I noticed a similar phenomena with the NGC 7822 nebula (near Elephant's Trunk), which has a burst of B-class supergiants tightly together that looks like a streak until you start getting very close.

The only real way to find out is to start jumping towards it though!

That’s what I thought but it is way beyond the Formadine rift and, as far as I could make out, beyond the Perseus Arm. Which means outside our galaxy I assume

PS, looks like my memory was faulty. It wasn’t thousands of galaxies at all!

‘100 billion galaxies
All in all, Hubble reveals an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the universe or so, but this number is likely to increase to about 200 billion as telescope technology in space improves, Livio told Space.com.19 Mar 2018’

Ha, that reminded me of when I thought the Magellanic Clouds were a nebula... But yes, I wonder what extragalactic body it's meant to be, now. I wonder if there's a catalog of such things one can see with the naked eye...

I must review the program I watched (I have it recorded) because it named a number of the nearest galaxies. They each have a distinctive shape so it may be that the galaxy we can see can be identified

PhelboreWhich direction is it, roughly?

Roughly, it's out towards the Formidine Rift.

First image is the bookmark I'm heading for, EAFOTS EU-R C4-1.

Second image is looking back towards the Bubble.

Best I can do as far as direction goes, apart from, that way over there, somewhere.

Better view prepping for my next jump

That looks very much like the IC 1805 sector, I was with The Taffmeister above and diverted to this on the way back from our sojourn. and stopped at Altera's Eye, a black hole in the system. This location is IC 1805 sector DQ-Y e3. Here are a couple of pictures...

the second shows the cluster you can see very close up.

I initially thought is was the NGC 7822 nebulae next door to the elephants trunk but two things pointed that out as wrong, the first is the location of the outopps system you took the picture from and the second is the black nebula next to my picture of NGC 7822 below which is missing from yours...

Reverend TZWAbout 1000 Lys out from the bubble heading for the Formidine Rift, this has appeared in my line of sight.

Anyone know what it is? I can't find anything like it on the GalMap, unless it's in a galaxy far, far away.

On my way towards Veil I saw that thing. Checking on the galaxy map surfaced nothing as there is NOTHING like that shown on it (even not a far-away galaxy in the background of it). It bothered me for a longer while and spent a few long days trying to trace down the direction through jumping and fuel scooping on my now DB Explorer. After that time, I really had to go back to the bubble and went back into bounty hunting business...

Until this day, I have no idea what it could be.
