ElathronAs much as I like the idea of a flight stick, it would also require a setup in my living room... Not easy to stick a flight chair and controls where my sofa is

I have my hotas mounted to a wood board that just sits on my lap. Works fine.

Ha, I'm doing the exact same thing, except I eventually bought a gaming chair because slouching on the floor in front of the TV was killing my back.

I play on PC, and I was really reluctant to go HOTAS at first. Now, I can't imagine playing the game any other way - HOTAS + programmable keypad.

I've also got the HOTAS mounted to a board, and the board attaches to my desk with a few c-clamps. It's super convenient. If I played on console, I'd probably mount to a TV tray-table or something like a laptop table.

I've gotten an Oculus, specifically for this game, but after almost a year, I find that I barely use it. ED is awesome in VR - especially mining and dog fighting in a CZ - VR really changes your situational awareness. But the high contrast views of the game (HUD in particular) make the "screen door" effect of VR really pronounced, and a decent screen gives a higher resolution than "mere HD". Also, there are just a few too many controls I rely on to map to even a HOTAS (X-52 Pro. Maybe a few others are better) so I need to see the keypad, or fumble for it. Sure, there's clutch mode but I just haven't been able to get used to that.

AND, it's hard to reach for a beer/cookie with the VR bucket on your head.

I don't think I could give up the HOTAS at this point. I've recently ADDED an xbone controller to the PC for free camera control, but it's "meh". Not much of a screen sniper I guess. I've heard of people using dual joysticks, so that may be an option for PC players too (more buttons and possibly a very configurable set of controls) but I don't think that's even an option on a console. I, personally, love having a throttle, I just wish the x-52p had more controls on it - another hat, another button or two on the stick, and a few more buttons or switches on the throttle and VR would be very much the preferred option for me.

Does a successful defense of a system's starports from thargoids just cause them to skip that system and continue on their path? Or do they change route entirely ? Also, are they more inclined to show up in systems with terrestrial ammonia worlds or systems with gas giants that are capable of supporting ammonia based life ? Are they purposefully looking around for ammonia worlds to inhabit ?

Is this something else that everyone knows but me?

Not 'Clean', not 'Wanted' but 'Warrant'.

Anyone know what it is?

TIA

ElathronI have been tempted to buy a flight stick for the game, the ability to "drift" at the same time as steering would be a major advantage in a dogfight. As on the consoles we have to "click the stick" to activate alternate flight controls. It would take some getting used to however, I haven't used anything but a traditional controller since my Atari STE... Lol.

Once you experience the game on a flight stick you will never use your controller again.

As they can be very expensive, i started with the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X, from argos for £35. I used the crab bindings for it.

I am now using a Thrustmaster T-16000M FCS HOTAS and loving it

Quick question, if I am on a minor faction and looking at the line under influence, what is the flashing blue dot or for that matter yellow dot? What do those mean? Thanks for the help

Yellow is Conflict pending
Red is conflict active
Blue is expansion in progress (I think!)

That makes perfect sense, thank you!

Namita PearHi, I put my freestanding hotas on the nightstand I use as a computer desk and then pull out the drawer to place my keyboard on that. It's absolutely disgusting.

I put my Extreme 3D Pro (faux-HOTAS) on an old Dungeon Master's Guide, and that sits in my lap. Wireless keyboard sits on the coffee table.

Pinkies up. This is Fancy-Town.

Lol. I don't think I could so ungraciously use a flight stick, it would have to be a proper gaming chair as I get the impression that my back would protest >< I have quite a physical job and I need comfort if I'm going to play on the console. My vertebrae have the personality of a snowflake, they like to complain when put under pressure

For me, a comfortable computer chair, HOTAS split in two on the keyboard tray and keyboard on my lap puts everything at the right height to keep my back happy.

Myself I'm saving for the joystick dedicated for Xbox One. I've been playing on PAD way too long, but I am honestly interested into actual stick. However it sorta bothers me that on pad you use left circlepad while you use right hand for the stick.
