Ste_83_rb5_286Is this the right place to ask a question about finding data? Two day's searching now for abnormal compact emission data, and the Grind is killing me... not found one. Any hot tips please!!! mission rewards or good systems. Can anyone help?

It's a very rare data you get from scanning combat ships. Sit in a high intensity CZ, don't pick a side, don't shoot anything, and scan everything. Let the scan finish all the way to get data.

Crabdaddy022Try an encoded material broker? Maybe you could trade for the items you need.

I always do this, the better part is the feeling of regret when you need the materials you just traded for some other engineering

I used to hang out in the canteens on star wars galaxy's ,those were fantasic to sit in and recoup from battle fatigue

But it is obviously easier to find what you traded, than waiting for the crap drop rate of what you wanted.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’d far rather FD got their shit together on player factions and their in-game inclusion! ‘Legs’ would be cool, but the PF situation is just wrong!

See, I just don't get the love for "space legs".  I've read some of the examples, and I just don't see it.  I don't play ED to walk around inside of ships or ports.  I play it to fly ships (well, and drive the SRVs, which for me is essentially the same).  Once you go the "space legs" route you're now trying to turn it into Call of Duty or Counterstrike or whatever.  When your ship blows up, we at least have the loosely-supported contention that you have an escape pod that allows you to survive the event.  What's the excuse if you die while walk around a dangerous site or get into a person-to-person battle?  Are we going to take a page from "Altered Carbon" and just say we all are sleeves and our stack gets backed up, to be downloaded into a new sleeve if we die?  I personally don't want to see the game go that direction.

Thanks guys. Another day and still no abnormal compact emission data..... and yes thank you I've tried sitting in combat zones scanning ships.... nothing. Currently sat in a independent system with no state and population of 4 billion, " Hutton" in deep space 3 hours nothing.. oh and I've not traded for them as I have four different models I would like to upgrade two long-range sensors two sets of clean drives, and I don't have enough grade 5 materials to trade for all of them.... especially considering the trade ratio

My apologies. I didn't spot your earlier post.

Not a problem understandable there's a lot of posts.... so different question after 3 days I'm giving up I'm trying to find abnormal compact emission data!!!

What's the easiest grade 5 data to grind for the rest of my life in order to trade for it???? Anybody got any suggestions? and thank you FDEV for your most enjoyable gameplay.......

I think it is a matter of perception. From my view, I am not a ship (or SRV), but the ship's captain, a living person. From that point is see logical that one day I should be able to stand out of my chair and go (for example) to investigate abandoned station interiors to find out what happened there or similar stuff. It can just add another layer of possible adventures. Because, to be honest, adding new weapons, new ships and new types of landable planets (including Earth-likes) just adds a slightly different type of the existing or differently looking environment, but the core principles will remain the same. Each game in the long-term should innovate and bring new stuff to survive, otherwise players will get bored by doing the same things over and over and leave the game. The space legs seems to be a logical step how to bring something new and entertaining to the game, when executed properly. I personally do not see an issue with deaths "on foot", when cloning will be a part of the lore. It disturbs me less than current holo-me and 3D-printed launched fighters which were made for the sake of gameplay.

Cloning is only acceptable to Imperials. It's illegal in the Federation, so that would mean Fed aligned pilots would die when they die.

If you see what I mean.
16 Apr 2018, 9:51pm
Yep, but that doesn't exclusively mean it may not change. The Elite's lore is Frontier's property so they may change it if it will be needed, for example as a part of the story (like the losses during the war with Thargoids were so heavy that Pilots Federation is allowed to clone their pilots even in federal space). But, it's just a technicality, there may be another solutions to "personal deaths" as well.

As has been stated above, the ability to walk around needs to be accompanied by compelling gameplay, or else it'll be the same boondoggle that it was for Eve: Online. Elite's current game design almost certainly sabotages the utility of space legs even before they're implemented, since the player can do everything that there is to do from their seat, and instantly. Thus, only the hardest of the hard core roleplayers will bother to rise from their chairs to do, say- anything at all.

Worse still would be if Frontier forced the player to walk around a space station to do basic tasks like outfitting or repairing your ship. I like to think that Frontier would have the wherewithal to not deliberately make things inconvenient for the sake of showcasing a new feature- but you never know with them.

I would imagine that FDev will introduce Space Legs playable in three modes.

In Public mode, a player can have their avatar wander around a starport and freely interact with other player avatars, exchanging information, accepting missions, making black market deals, shooting each other, etc.

In Private mode, a player can have their avatar freely wander around a starport without the fear of being given false information, taking difficult missions, being conned by unscrupulous black marketeers, or being shot at.

Both modes have the Group option, whereby players can have their avatars wander around in gangs of up to four.

This, exactly. I love that I never need to take my hands off my HOTAS unless I'm typing a message to someone. That's a great thing for me, it may not be immersive, but I truly enjoy it.
