First post here, please be gentle.

Niuk Tima I'm tempted to get Eagle and try to drift into the mailslot while listening to Deja Vu. XP

Would it not be better to turn 90 degrees and sideways thrust into the mailslot for authentic drift action?

WaxierZero2277So I was bounty hunting and decided to head out to repair after I destroy this type 10 I’m shooting at, but I get in its face and for some reason decide to boost and try to turn at the last second only to hit its side and blow up...

It's generally advised to avoid ramming T-10s.

Well... It does weigh in excess of 2,000T when it's fully upgraded. Don't worry, on Xbone the boost button is the same as the button for landing gear and cargo scoop (held down+direction combo), the amount of times I have boosted into the back of a starport or destroyed the black box I was supposed to collect by hitting it at 400m/s... Ugh.

Same on the PS4. I know your pain.

May I recommend the Thrustmaster Hotas One? Compatible with your XBone and makes accidental boosts a thing of the past. My son loves his

Boost on PS4 is mapped to the Circle button, which used to cause me trouble, and it's by default mapped the same on the Thrustmaster 4. L3 is by default not mapped to anything really important, so I remapped boost to it. L3 is right next to L1, mapped by default to secondary fire, so it takes a deliberate movement of my thumb to hit L3, and accidentally hitting boost is a thing of the past. I remapped Circle to toggle orbit lines on and off. Good thing about this game is that very nearly every single control can be remapped.

I have been tempted to buy a flight stick for the game, the ability to "drift" at the same time as steering would be a major advantage in a dogfight. As on the consoles we have to "click the stick" to activate alternate flight controls. It would take some getting used to however, I haven't used anything but a traditional controller since my Atari STE... Lol.

I'm far too attached to my control pad to seriously consider anything else.

As much as I like the idea of a flight stick, it would also require a setup in my living room... Not easy to stick a flight chair and controls where my sofa is

I have my hotas mounted to a wood board that just sits on my lap. Works fine.

Ha, I'm doing the exact same thing, except I eventually bought a gaming chair because slouching on the floor in front of the TV was killing my back.

Hotas what a beautiful joystick to use with this game!

Hi, I put my freestanding hotas on the nightstand I use as a computer desk and then pull out the drawer to place my keyboard on that. It's absolutely disgusting.

That's awesome. Can't wait to build my own gaming rig just for this game rather than use my multipurpose rig. I also want track ir and a hotas myself! Then maybe voice attack or something just for that extra immersion.

I use Track IR and Voice Attack. I am yet to get a HOTAS, using the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, I know it's cringe-worthy but It's all I have for now. My PC is pretty decent though and my chair is to die for, not the prettiest but it has more adjustments than a swiss army knife has tools and the comfort factor is off the scale.

I haven't tried VR yet but it's on my list of possibilities once I have tested it and after the HOTAS.
