So tell me, what's with your collective efforts to dominate the public forum on here? The derision, shaming and bullying comments, the threats to BGS, the high-school cliquishness. Anyone who doesn't toe your collective line of how the game ought to be played or confronts your opinions about why your preferences are "superior" gets shit on and is basically #MAGA'd off the forum. You've claimed authority on what the Right Way to play is, and what the Right Thing to say on Inara is, and you make it a person crusade to enforce this. What's with that?

You're demonstrating an astounding lack of self awareness.  I'll break it down for you!

You talked shit.  Several people, including myself, took issue with it.  You decided to backtrack.  I called you out on it, now you're having a tantrum.  Considering the history of your wing and this forum, I am now laughing my ass off.

That's all that's going on here, whether you're smart enough to realize it or not.

It's been a pattern over time (this past year), and I have not been keeping any sort of a logbook to "prove it". But, the pattern is that this particular forum is dominated by a core several personalities - whom exactly depending on time of day I suppose. The pattern continues that a user of the site chimes in with comments about how they play the game or that they disagree with how one of these personalities chooses to play their game. Then some subset of these personalities piles on to that person, picking apart what was said and putting that person in a position of having to:
- defend their word choice if what they said was solid but poorly phrased
- "show their work" if they were articulate but poorly thought out
- cite their sources or define their terms if what was said was speculative and general
- etc

Scroll through and see whom you see consistently. If you want to take the time, look at where comments are rapid-fire by the same group of people, feeding off each other's comments following some "seed" post. It's a behavior like that of a loose mob of trolls, much like what you would find on a political news site. 4chan-lite.

It is the same set of people on the regular, and the group holds grudges. The net result is, if it is a new site user, they are rarely heard from again. If it is a settled-in user, they go silent in the public space for quite a while and rarely engage in a similar fashion again.

It bothers me because I find this site tremendously useful. Like you, I have contributed to making the site better, not just for me but for others. I see the collective behavior of this group of personalities on the variety and quality of discussion that takes place here as having a chilling effect on the site as a whole, and that bothers me.

I'm not suggesting this is necessarily organized and coordinated, but many of the comments this group leaves refer to prior spats they've participated in, there's plenty of dog whistles, and this looks like group cohesion when it happens time and again. It's a group of old-timer Inara users who, figuratively speaking, walk five or six abreast through this forum, forcing everyone else to step aside, and stuffing into lockers anyone (and their friends) who tries to stand up to them.

See, that right there is being a bully. The condescending tone, the insults, over time, drive people off the forum - which is the end goal, to claim this public space as one that must follow your rules or be punished.

You're right. I made an inciteful comment and provoked exactly the sort of response that I then complained about. You're also right to call out my lack of self awareness in this. I did it for a reason I'm not seeing, and it is not your problem to help me sort that out, yet I've made it so. My apologies, FWIW to you.

Good evening everyone. I have a question for you guys. If you in a wing, if a member scans a planet does it complete the scan for you with the ability to gain cartographic rewards or do you have to scan it yourself?
