LightninWorlock77Lightninduring landing mission in the buggy, I come across some AI ships sitting on the surface, what is the best way to approach these ships, attack, try to break into them, or use some from of limpet or ship board system to deal with them.
just not to sure how or why they are on the surface or even how to communicate with them.
any ideals or information well be used and helpful, oh and yes they are operational and can lift off if attacked
For future reference questions specifically about gameplay are probably best asked in the general
/game talk board. Now to answer your question -
If you're talking about the little drone-like sentries just shoot it out with them. They shouldn't be too hard to dispatch.
If you're talking about actual space-faring ships...I dunno. First consider if it's really necessary to engage them at all. I've had NPC ships hover over me while doing missions in the SRV a few times. I just ignore them and go about my business. Generally they won't act until you're in the air in your own ship, and you should be able to get away before they cause you too much grief.
no what I was asking is the ships are landed and are just sitting on the surface with no damage and a pilot in the ship.
I am in my buggy picking up salvage and just wondering what is the best way to approach the ship or even if you can steal them.
maybe I can send one of the hired hands to attack the ships in a fighter?
any way just asking if anybody would know about this encounter while on the surface of a planet

StalkerMacCan someone advise on the best place for Thargoid scouts I think they are threat level 3-4 as would like to start at the small ones first.
Have my Python kitted out with 4 AX Multi's and one normal Multi ready to go.
Many thanks in advance
Currently in Lalande 4141 and Lwalama, NHSS 3 to 5, threat 6 they are more numerous. Ifyou have room on your Python I recommend decontamination limpets. You can cook your ship to burn off the corrosive, but you also fry your modules.

Hello Lightnin.
These are standard NPC ships going about there business landing on a planet surface having a snack or a rest.
You cannot steal ships in Elite: Dangerous.
You can attack them in your SRV, in your ship or with a SLF if you wish, however, normal Crime and Punishment rules apply, if they are clean you will receive Fines/Bounties as usual.
You cannot interact with them in any other way.

Word of caution. If they are wanted and near an outpost the base’s defences wil open fire on you the second you attack the grounded ship. I found that out the hard way

I call my ship to me board it and scan the vessel ( most of the time they are wanted - well the ones I have scanned have been ) and then I blow them up for mats.

thanks pilots looks like that's all we can do, I have scanned them and attack but it just no good if you cannot steal them and sale them on the market.
I was even thinking of trying to open the cargo hatch with limpets.
anyway I guess it is all in the way the game plays find it can't do much with it.
later going back to the surface

i'd just like to know, if there is a way to tag a minorfaction as playerfaction since ours isn't tagged here^^ on eddb.io we've tagged our faction half a year ago but we'd like to do it here too so that others can be aware of us in the neighbourhood.

Op4daveI made my first kill yesterday. I was having problems changing my power distribution until I got the Voice attack mod. I no longer have to worry about blind typing while in VR. Just say Red Alert and power goes to my weapons and shields. The more I play the cooler this game gets.
As in player kill?

Ds2001sAnyone got any advice on rank grinding for the fed navy?
I did mine last year. You should find a system with as many fed factions as possible and build rep with them until your allied. Sol is perfect, but doesnt have to be there. Any specific questions?
