With experience you'll know when to boogie on out long before you have to.

I forgot to add: don't get greedy. Stay on mission! One more bounty voucher or bit of Combat Rank isn't worth a ship rebuy.

Stryker AuneUnder controls, you need to set up mode switch. You also need to set up axis control. I found my hosta to be too cumbersome, so I set the axis to be controlled by the mouse with primary and secondary fire on the mouse buttons.
FoxJesterAfter some fiddling around I found that the button (default for me) for beginning control of the turret was the middle mouse button
I'm on xbox so I'm not sure how which buttons correlate. I'm able to activate and retract the hardpoints but from the passenger seat of my buddy's Anaconda I had zero cross-hairs or gun information.
INb4: Yes they were turrets/multi-crew functional, yes I was in the gunner seat. tried all combinations of fire group mapping (1/2/blue G/organge G)

NAJ3HEREGetting the local cops to fight for you is kinda embarrassing when all else has failed too. Is there a knack to running away?
4 pips to ENG, not SYS. If you're running, you don't need your shields back, you need the speed boost. Speaking of, boost, all you can. Drop a heatsink, once you ice over they have to be within 50m to see you. Once your heat hits 10% or so, drop another heatsink. Stay cold until you can get out, and like Stryker says, jump to another system, not supercruise. You don't get masslocked doing that.

Damn, if I had had this knowledge three days ago I'd still have my challenger.
Suckers went straight for the FSD, man... *shudder*

PhelboreIf you can't afford the rebuy, choose not to rebuy a couple modules. You still get the ship and most of the stuff back, you get paid out for the modules you aren't buying back which can easily put you back in the rebuy range
Really good advice, and I think this is an option that unfortunately probably gets overlooked a lot. That being said, I try to stick with the old adage, "Never fly without a rebuy."

A rule a thumb that I've found helpful is have at least enough credits in reserve for 3 rebuys.

Yep I didn't even think of that either.
Honestly I should have just Multi-crew'd, I don't usually go out without a safety net but got a little excited on outfitting my Type-10. It has since been traded back in for the T9 it had replaced in the first place, now that's all set up and I'm sitting with a cool 40 million to keep me warm til the next big mission run with the faction buddies.
I had my fun, I tried out the toys I wanted to. Once I get the Challenger back, I'm off to grind Empire so one day I can get my hands on a cutter.
One day...

Personally I prefer the 250% boost to shields with putting 4 pips to SYS (only 150% with 2 pips). Putting distance between me and the target isn't so important for a high-wake escape - having my shields hold out for the 15 sec spool-up is.

StoopidfaceI try to keep heat sinks on board anything with more than one utility slot, but I did not know that the ice reduces you signature. So past 50 an aggressor loses lock on you? Did I get that right?
As far as i know, under 25% and they'll have trouble locking on you or (more efficiently) use silent run with hs but that drops shield.
Thargoid weapons will have trouble with accuracy on a low heated ship.
