OrwellianChaosI MADE IT TO INARA.
Life Goal: Complete

It’s like I told you in our back and forth PMs Automatic. You’re participating in the CG, I’m opposing it, you were a T.O.O. and I despise couriers. Instead of getting all twisted up about it, use it to get better at the game, improve your ship(get a better ship ).
I’m just playing my game, my way and in a Frontier approved manner... “hunt other commanders.”
FLY SAFE O7

Yeah I was flying a better ship.

Until I met “Jester of Sins” who while aligned with the same power as me, decided to show how awesome of a player he is by destroying my “C” rated Krait in like 3 seconds without provocation or discord.

When I didn’t even have a bounty on myself, well that was enough of that.

But screw me right? Lol

It's always been in the back of my mind that FD had originally figured on pilots winging up to protect each other in shared adventures, but that that design has been hobbled by the reality of poor internet reliability and time-zone problems keeping players separated for the most part. It just never came together as a regular practice. But mates do change the dynamic in combat considerably.

By the way, where are all the awesome bounty hunters in here who would go and rub these tools faces in the dirt? Someone out there wants that money and seeing how “honorable” these griefers are, I’m so totally sure they wouldn’t combat log before their precious ship gets obliterated by a posse...

IED & EXO try all the time but they rely on slow tanky ships & therefore can't catch me as I build my ships along the lines of a speedy glass cannon that's still rather sturdy & outpaces most ships that have enough firepower to be a threat.

Is Dredd in here? McNasty? Both have killed me before.

BGG is pretty much the only faction that gives me the pucker factor in a fight, but they primarily fly fast mediums too so evading is a bit more difficult than the IED/EXO Cutter/Vette standard.

It’s true. Lots of ‘good guy’ factions on XBOX. They’ll chase you out but they’re not well optimized for the kill.

Just a reminder before it turns out bad - I am for any constructive discussion even on hot themes like griefing, disputable actions, combat logging, etc. on a general level. But, please - do not discuss individual actions and who did this and who did that here any further, it usually doesn't end well. All sides involved already said or had a chance to say what they would like to and there is no need to continue in it. PMs are a good way how to settle any possible personal disputes. Thank you.

PvP bounty hunting in Elite is sadly a near-impossibility. So many things have to align just right (you being online, them being online, playing in the same mode, instancing, being in the same system out of thousands, the chance of combat logging, ect.) that as a playstyle it's dead on arrival. The closest that one can get to such is to friendslist snipe the other person, which in my view is rather abusing the mechanic.

It's a shame, too, since such a profession would be an endgame-tier challenge!

Again I have to say I've had a different experience usually when I go bounty hunting and I haven't with this character that I can find plentiful commanders near populated system.  I really love the challenge of bounty hunting and also taking that occasional contract for a player.

I still regret accidentally deleting my other character

Shove the money, they print more of that every day, always another buck around the corner, fought (and lost) the good fight, gone away, got better, did better, still lost, will do it all again. A BIG if I ever git gud enough to meet them on a level playing field I'm pretty damn sure I'm not going to want to as I already have an appreciation of what it takes to get to that level.
For those that are struggling, if you look under the Pilot's seat you'll find a big bottle of this there...

You Silverbacks are getting rowdy. I like it!

DarkDiablo10I'm sorry but is it really possible to evade a player interdiction ? Cause I lose so many times that I think that it was part of game mecanic.

Cobra Mk III should outboost most of the unengineered ships including player ones, except for launchable fighters. Thing is, there is barely any PK ship without engineering.

To sum up all three pages I've missed. The major issue of Open is the fact it doesn't really reward players (save for Poweplay, but I don't think rewards are worth even trying PP) for being there, instead players choose PVE friendly Player Groups.

That's why I pointed out the incentive to try open should be considerable two-digit percentage bonus to everything involving earning credits while keeping rebuy costs intact.

Open's incentive is in the experience, not some gimmicky reward.

I'm thinking about fair rewards for risks taken while going Open Mode to pay out for possible rebuy, mind me. Like Artie said: the attacker who just wants to kill inexperiences players for fun risk nothing - while losing players are punished really harsh via rebuy, lost exploration data and loss of - what you called - incentive to go Open.

I’ll agree the game, the framework, of the universe doesn’t reward you. What’s rewarded me are the people I’ve encountered, whether they’ve become friends or adversaries, and the stories that have grown up around them.

Once you’ve got the credits, the skills, and the ship what’s the late game? It’s the community and the path you choose to walk.

So as this guy puts it, everyone just bends over for these psychopaths?

After not playing this game for a few years, I started coming back around to it. Now with more engineer and guardian upgrades and the Thargoid threat, ships are a lot more powerful than my old designs are by a large margin apparently. Used to be fast, but now guys say 500+ is attainable.

The community is sure a lot different too. With griefers instead of legit pirates, people must be getting bored apparently. Also with the moderator stepping in to tell me to pipe down, it makes me think the powers that be are trying to reduce negative PR. Griefing is a real issue, especially when the offending party has nothing to gain from destroying someone in my position, who is not trying to step on toes and just get a foothold on my depleted bank account.

How are you supposed to bring awareness to crime in order to help the actual Bounty hunters do their part?
