Lyon DeLacyFrom what I remember there were no insults from my side. Just saying. I simply wanted to point out how bad it is to prey on weaker players who are barely 20 hours into game still stuck in their Eagles or Adders.
To be fair, I don't recall any from you either. I disagree witn a lot of your points (altho I do agree with some), but you definitely get respect for keeping your arguments on the topic, not the person on the other side.

yeah ok that was a good read, the Coma war bit I can totally get on board with - that sounds like it was a lot of fun.
The stuff about killing noobs in starter systems is a bit low down dirty for my taste but each to their own I suppose and the fact that it developed into something genuinely emergent is a good thing.

my offer of Thargoid hunting remains open to all that are interested or already enjoy this activity.
We lost Metcalf last week despite a good effort to defend it.
The galaxy needs skilled commanders to take on this threat and hand in the scalps (carapaces?) for little reward beyond the Kudos.
I'll be in RMK 6 with the usual wing buddies if anyone fancies it (please don't come and gank me as a response to this afternoons chat room posts

I'm no fan of gankers myself. Until recently, I've been a pirate for most of my Elite career - y'know, a proper one, who issues demands for modest amounts of cargo and lets folk go on their way if they comply, or scatters them to the Void if they don't. Gankers give those of my former noble profession a bad name, and makes traders skittish and reluctant to submit and pay up.
However, I accept that ganking is part of the game. Frontier intended it to be a thing, and even suggest it in their marketing material!
Everyone's got their own opinion on it, some more tolerant that others, but let's keep it context of the game that we all enjoy, and not make assumptions of the players behind it. I used to play EVE, and one of my corpmates there was a most terrible greifer and got some eye-watering hate-mail. She was a paramedic in RL, and saved people on a daily basis. She dealt with the stress of her job by releasing her negativity into an environment which had controls and rules, where no physical harm could come to anyone. So much for the armchair psychology diagnosis, huh?
As I said earlier, we don't get to control our fellow players, but we have complete control over our own actions. From choosing your game mode at the main menu, to deciding whether to run or fight an interdiction, everything is on you.

Myself, I like Private Groups. Truth is, 99% of time there's no one to log nearby me to wing up and do missions/bounting together (I'm in six Private Groups). That's why I risk into Open Mode and sometimes I meet with very bitter disappointment.

Phisto SobaniiArtie The best thing is to offer the advices (as Kari and many others here are doing, which is great!), but limit the sarcastic tone. In their view, they did nothing wrong, just expected something else. That's not something deserving defaming.
I completely agree. That said, comments like Pauly’s (in regards to the upbringing of people playing a video game) have no place, surely?
I agree. Each person ultimately chooses to behave how they do.
For the discussions about the community, other stuff related to the game like astrophysics and so on please use the General talk thread.
What does belong here:
- Questions, answers, tips and guides about ship loadouts, game activities like exploration, mining, combat and similar things that directly relate to the gameplay.
- Game technical issues and problems, if you are looking for a help. For the bug reports please head to the official FD forum.
- Discussion about "official" events from GalNet and community goals.
- Discussing player actions and activities, general topics about Elite community and player events, topics related to the game but also real world (like astrophysics and similar). Please post these to the "General talk" thread instead.
- Any off topic discussion, please post this kind of stuff to the "Offtopic" thread.
