Phisto SobaniiI’ll agree the game, the framework, of the universe doesn’t reward you. What’s rewarded me are the people I’ve encountered, whether they’ve become friends or adversaries, and the stories that have grown up around them.

Once you’ve got the credits, the skills, and the ship what’s the late game? It’s the community and the path you choose to walk.

I agree with your point, but the new players WILL NOT have the incentive to go Open Mode.

Finest example here: I recently got around three million credits in bounties (~70 minutes flying around RES) while in wing with bigger players met randomly (I started a new save weeks ago) in Open. It was all fun and pun until I got interdicted literally 3mm away from dropout for my bounties by a player I didn't expect.

By the time one of the players from the wing jumped in, I was looking at the Rebuy screen.

Now imagine a new player in such a situation.

New players shouldn’t feel obligated to use Open until they feel ready. When I first started years ago I didn’t leave Solo for the longest time. Now with the ability to organize outside of the game and easily find a private group (or Open players in isolated areas of space) there’s plenty of ways for a new player to go.

And heck, some new players will just go for it in Open because that’s their style. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!

Thing is, it’s up to us old timers to guide new folk and promote Open Play. This community doesn’t need the game, or FDEV, to do it.

That's why I'm happy Private Groups are a thing. Myself I simply regret resetting the save, because I forgot how horrible grind it is.

AutomaticAddictBy the way, where are all the awesome bounty hunters in here who would go and rub these tools faces in the dirt? Someone out there wants that money and seeing how “honorable” these griefers are, I’m so totally sure they wouldn’t combat log before their precious ship gets obliterated by a posse...

Shove the money, they print more of that every day, always another buck around the corner, fought (and lost) the good fight, gone away, got better, did better, still lost, will do it all again. A BIG if I ever git gud enough to meet them on a level playing field I'm pretty damn sure I'm not going to want to as I already have an appreciation of what it takes to get to that level.
For those that are struggling, if you look under the Pilot's seat you'll find a big bottle of this there...

If it isn't there it's either time for big boy pants or solo

So as this guy puts it, everyone just bends over for these psychopaths?

After not playing this game for a few years, I started coming back around to it. Now with more engineer and guardian upgrades and the Thargoid threat, ships are a lot more powerful than my old designs are by a large margin apparently. Used to be fast, but now guys say 500+ is attainable.

The community is sure a lot different too. With griefers instead of legit pirates, people must be getting bored apparently. Also with the moderator stepping in to tell me to pipe down, it makes me think the powers that be are trying to reduce negative PR. Griefing is a real issue, especially when the offending party has nothing to gain from destroying someone in my position, who is not trying to step on toes and just get a foothold on my depleted bank account.

How are you supposed to bring awareness to crime in order to help the actual Bounty hunters do their part?

Actuall, be mindfull, this is one of the players i referred to, when he joined the Silverbacks he preferred private groups, if i remember well...look at him now, brash and cocky, and one of our esteemed officers, training now our recruits...and that within 6 months !! Mind you  The Silverbacks only exist less than a year....and like that we have more at the Silverbacks,

It has been great to see this shy, newb  pilots become so well confident in what they do, all getting confident, because they are not afraid of the challenges, and seek and set their own challenges...
....So he took up the challenge....and if you know the history of the Silverbacks (most are 50+) you only can enjoy his mindset...which is what is lacking between these whiners ( instant gratification comes to mind, the race of 2 weeks to get their paper-Anaconda's which you cna rip apart with a simple Sidey..or Viper

Old Salty Apes, and damn proud of them!

Phisto SobaniiYou Silverbacks are getting rowdy. I like it!

Thank you! It's indeed great seeing them evolve !

Just for clarity, if it was meant to me - I have nothing about continuing this kind of discussion. I have just asked to not go into the individual cases and talk to more generally (otherwise there is a high chance it will end in flames and the world will burn).

From my point of view, speaking generally - killing Harmless pilots in Sidewinders is equal to seal-clubbing and it's a condemnable behavior which deserves THE special level of hell (otherwise reserved for child molesters and people who talk at the theater, by words of shepherd Book). Anything past that is getting more and more shady and depends on many conditions. I am sure there are situations that may be perceived as unfair by the victim and fair by the attacker and both can be right, because nobody has the complete set of information and knowledge of motivations leading to that action. I am not defending this "killing-spree" behavior for sure, I don't like it too. I am just saying that things may be often not so black and white.

My PC account was from scratch. While later on I transferred my XBOX assets, I know that feel all too well!

I guess as the newest guy in the chat room (been playing E:D for about a week or so and only been on INARA for under a week) I jumped right into open and to be honest I didn't see another player for about three days. And only about three days ago I had my first PvP encounter. I lost the fight and to be honest I thought about combat logging out, but I didn't. Was I pissed? Yes, but I just re-bought my ship and moved on. But here's the thing I learned about games like this, some people just want to watch the world burn.

Cool story bro.

But that still doesnt answer the question, where are the real bounty hunters that won’t scoff at 100,000,000 credits because they aren’t a fat-cat already?

There is a REAL problem in Ebor system, no matter how you slice it and I cannot afford another rebuy ATM, so it’s “solo” for now... Sadly.

Wait!

You want to issue a bounty of 100 Millio and can't really afford another rebuy?

and are you referring  to players who do the opposing part of the Community goal? Aren't they doing what they are supposed to do?

Uh, I thought it would be common knowledge by now, given past comments that I am talking about a criminal here with a bounty set by the federation. You would of course need to be a bounty hunter and probably have a warrant scanner to unlock even more credits from such quarry, as I’m sure they have bounties in other systems as well!

How exactly would you pay this?

hmm, then i misread your post, i thought you were prepared to pay that, by donating metal or so----(10.000 tons?)

but it still has nothing to do with ganking, he's just fullfilling his role as a pirate, upsetting the world orders !

I mean you do encounter NPC-pirates who have higher combat-rankings?

I guess you’re right!

Any idea of the proper wing or noble faction I can report such activity and potential earning opportunities to?

Someone must be up for the task!

Yeah.

But again, these aren’t pirates. I am carrying nothing of value or any bounties on my head. I can understand it being a PP kind of opposition, it wasnt that. Even NPC pirates scan you for valuables and leave you alone if it’s not worth their time.

It’s more of a “hey look at the low lvl ship!” “I can blow it out of the sky in a split second!” I’m so great!” kind of thing... And you don’t see the same offenders just randomly attacking NPCs either, so it IS directed at players. Perceived weaker players, it’s a “cowards game” at best.

Hence “Griefing”.

to be honest...sometimes i can't  fit any manifest-scanner...or have space for hatchbreakers....

It also happens that pirates want to discourage pilots transporting items to the station, or block the station or UA-bomb it....
