Nana. you gotta wanna have a task manager open. Combat logging isnt the same if you're being attacked and ambushed unfairly IMO.

Is your opinion of cheating representative of Wolves of Jonai?

No. It's my personal opinion. Although now, i may change my opinion

That's good to know! Not everyone can listen to reason and change their opinion - props for that.

Choosing the option from the Main Menu that best suits your style of play is the rule of thumb here:

If you like to be sociable and experience unpredictable encounters with others, go Open.

If you like to be sociable but prefer your own house rules on how you interact with others, go Private Group.

If you like to tootle around without a care for anyone else, go Solo!

All are valid choices and are infinitely better than cheating

@ Draxxa Kireth - Good posting!

DO NOT mix gankers and pirates. If a ship blows up, i get no cargo! It is that simple ! And it's hard work as it is

But on a serious note, i always ask for a donation, the choice for the other CMDR  is fight, flee or freeze. But it does boil down to:
-donate me some cargo 9 sometimes as little as 2 T (more doesn't fit into my sidewinder)
-fight me (a big ship against a small Sidey or Viper  is not really fair, but ok, i learn again! :angel
-flight me and risk loosing entire cargo over a small donation.
-try to flee and i will need to correct that behavior, as it costs me more time and effort , and costs the CMDR  more time

...and as a pirate i do  contribute to a more exciting experience for the other CMDR, they get sharper and alerter and have newly discovered ambitions

But then again i'm more known as a friendly pirate

So: Ganking has no place, and no use

New to the forum but I agree with Artie. Tictac, go suck a mint...

ArtieThe ganking and griefing is, unfortunately, part of almost any MMO-like game. But it doesn't mean it should be accepted or tolerated. There are many activities in the game where killing others or "liberating" their cargo is perfectly reasonable. But seal-clubbing is not. The border between those two is pretty thin and shady.

Not really that much of a border in my eyes. But those who are actually trying to RP Pirates etc. won't find willing participants due to the griefers / gankers having ruined the fun. I mean if you're deliberately flying in known Anarchy territory (as in, having sought out the places where Pirates roam) then that's another story. But in the civilised regions of space?

And those who really just are after ganking / griefing - sorry, what's hindering me from using whatever possibility there is to make them salty? ESC + 15 sec = legal, in case I don't get a high-wake done.

Let them whine, for they deserve nothing else.

Combat logging (in)validity aside, it just illustrates the problem I have mentioned before - the death penalty is too harsh. When nothing is lost upon of death (it means - no rebuy, no exploration data lost, etc.), there will be almost no reason why anybody should log out or why they shouldn't play in Open. Even purely PvE players. With a death they will usually loose just a little time (if not on the long exploration trip). Of course, such solution brings another set of problems that needs to be solved, but in my opinion it's still better than the current state. It's a matter of a personal taste, of course. I am sure many other commanders will see it differently.

it doesn't need to be that bad...a little anecdote:

i had to deliver something during the Lave Radio campaign, and was "meta-ganked"...The CMDR brought me down within 10 seconds to 1% hull, and stopped there....and his words:

"Here is my business-card so you don't forget about me, and to see me at GameCon "

in any case, i managed to sneak into the station...which was an exciting endeavour as well

Those who are actual RP Pirates etc. beg to differ.

TictacGood points y'all. Now, i think ganking is part of the game. Go live with it. Go solo/private you dont want to be ganked!

very quick turn around from defending combat loggers

you gotta know when to turn eh!

AutomaticAddictGot interdicted in Ebor by OrwellianChaos. Got away from him and into supercruise, just to get interdicted again while trying to high jump away from his raging hard-on for my courier.
What the hell is up with all these socially frustrated losers? Griefers suck. Period.

Heaven forbid a player goes to a bounty hunting CG and acts as a "boss" level WANTED target. I get it, you like your easy brain numbing scripted AI slaughter. I prefer to shoot targets that are capable of thinking for themselves.

And there’s another name.  OrwellianChaos is one of the nicest (and talented) pilots on XBOX.

‘Socially frustrated loser’ is the last thing I’d call him.

Non-sense, we're all hermits who beat our kids/wives, plot mass murders, & are generally a nuisance to irl society.

Thing is, whether its RP Pirates, actual Pirates, Gankers, Nutjobs, Lovelies, White Knights - You gotta have all of them if you want any sort of realism. Ganking may be nasty but it is human nature for some and well within the rules. Combat Logging however, even when I sympathise with the one that may have done it, is just cheating, especially as we have the options of PG and Solo (I currently use all three modes depending on what i am doing - and not just to board flip!)

Something Artie mentioned about other MMOs (and yes, I know this is NOT an MMO so no need to open that big bag of worms) giving low level players immunity from PVP, I can't help but think that would work very well and get us all flying about together like a big unhappy family of idiots like I think the intent of the game was.

I MADE IT TO INARA.
Life Goal: Complete

It’s like I told you in our back and forth PMs Automatic. You’re participating in the CG, I’m opposing it, you were a T.O.O. and I despise couriers. Instead of getting all twisted up about it, use it to get better at the game, improve your ship(get a better ship ).
I’m just playing my game, my way and in a Frontier approved manner... “hunt other commanders.”
