are the vette a good ship? I'm planning on buying one.

The Krait is your multi role with teeth, the FDL is your combat specialist, the python is your true multi role.

The Federal Corvette is a great ship that can be outfitted in many different ways, however it is not indestructible. I love mine as a pure fighting machine.

You can bring down a Corvette with a Viper MK3 if you know what you're doing...

All depending on the pilot. Bad pilot plus Corvette= destroyed, good pilot plus Viper= can make anything happen.

Correctly engineered and knowing how to use your Pips during combat you can stay very long in a Combat zone, and even more so in a RES.

As how good they are for PvP I can't say, I'm stricly PvE here.

The Python still is the most versatile ship in the game, closely followed by the Krait.

PvPers tend to use medium ships like the FAS for dedicated PvP combat. Sometimes small ships, too, I think. But they definitely don't use large ships for PvP combat. And I don't recall them using the Python for that. Not fast and agile enough for dedicated PvP combat, such as the meta is.

There are other PvP things such as piracy where a large ship may be used (such as some of the videos where they're using Cutters).

I think Renraiku would beg to differ on that.

Small and Medium ships are better for PvP piracy.

Medium and Large ones for PvE piracy.

DarkLordStarkillHello cmdrs what do you find better at combat FDL or Krait MK2

That depends on a great many things. You will need to be much more specific.

I do PVE bounty hunting and trading sometimes and BGS

You can harvest materials from planet surfaces right now if you own Horizons.

The Python is a very capable PvE combat ship, you can complete almost all PvE encounters in it Solo and I have done so for most.

The Python is a Viable PvP combat ship, depending on your opponents choice of ship if duelling (Knowing your enemy is half the battle) and in a wing fight with support generally speaking the Python can hold it's own, it is not fast and that is it's only draw back. It is now much more viable with the addition of Guardian Shield Reinforcements to compensate for the lower multiplier on it's shields. It can also take a fair beating if you set it up as a hull tank.

PvE - All 3 choices, Python, Krait & Corvette will serve you well, I would however, make sure you engineer it as then you can complete almost all of your tasks much more efficiently.

You can actually stay almost indefinately (fuel being the only limit) in a Combat Zone of you set your ship up right, Fully (or pretty close) engineered of course, using Bi-Weave Shields and Energy weapons or weapons using the Plasma Slug experimental, you can just keep on going.

There are plenty out there that use Large ships for PvP, Anacondas, Corvettes and Cutters and actually more common in PvP than you may think. I have certainly used my Corvette for PvP.

I have heard a fir bit about the chieftain being used, but I will keep the Challenger in mind when I go to set a hunter up.

I traded my Chieftain in for a Challenger and it instantly became my favorite Gunship.

Though the way my bank is set up (may have been a Type-10 purchase somewhere in there), I didn't have enough to rebuild ole Foe Hammer the last time I went into combat. Shields went down, then the FSD... sitting duck waiting to die. quite a sad turn of events actually.

Well, at least one good thing coming from this. You will never fly without a rebuy again, right?

Lesson painfully learned. But I'll also never trust someone who says "just stay close to me and jump as soon as your shields go down" taking me into a conflict zone. Though I guess it was a decent plan, the instant FSD damage did not help. nor did the thruster failure almost immediately after. Still such a vivid memory.
