LordPsymonThe one time I got ganked was hilarious. The guy pulled me out of SC, demanded I wait while I get scanned for cargo. He fumbled around like an idiot and I was like "are you going to scan me or not?"

After another few seconds he said "Hold on..." and I was like "lol, nope. Laters," and boosted out to safety.

hahaha...that's so adorable

There's still amateur pirates out there who haven't had their manifest scanners modded for quick-scan. And their prey hightailing out, like Psymon did, is the price of being unprepared!

I'm the type that would have began ferris-wheel-circling his ship as my frameshift charged until I bounced.
Probably while singing some pirate shanty.

Not all pirates are amateurs. I know some pirates who are the type to blow you out of the sky for not cooperating.

The ones who are good at what they do control the situation, give clear instructions and back-up their threats.

Sometimes giving up a small bit of cargo is a smarter choice than a rebuy or expensive repairs.

Or simply have a faster ship than theirs. I have run from pirates and authorities plenty of times. If the cargo is irreplaceable just tell 'em to stick it and boost away.

I usually have a lot of heat syncs and at least one form of active defense.

But mostly I was referring to the above mentioned situation specifically.

Just for clarity, my caution and advice refers to player pirates. NPCs are nothing to worry about.

Player pirates however will have all sorts of tricked out weapons that will kill your FSD, cancel out your ENG pips, reboot your drives and destroy your shield generator (to name but a few). Did I mention hatchbreakers? Hatchbreakers.

Then there was that one time I pirated a guy and forced him to sing...

But the video I captured did not capture the singing, only the game audio. That was sad times.

Perhaps I should've specified Player pirates. A second's hesitation is the rabbit's advantage... Plus nobody likes me enough to bring a group anyways. No one guy has everything XD

As a final point, I've only had one process disrupted at a time. Easily corrected.

I usually run with a heat sink and point defense, and thats generally enough to escape. 4 pips in systems and 2 in engines has never resolted in a death for me.

Alternatively, most pirates expect a submit and boost, so i love suprising them with a Type 9 that wins the mini game

I’ve done my fair share of ganks over the years. The memorable ones are where the prey escaped. Like that guy at Obsidian Orbital. Ran the gauntlet with a Dolphin! Boosted right through a face full of plasma straight through the slot.

The guts on that one! We were so impressed we escorted him out of the station in formation.

Yeah, when you shoot fish in a barrel, it would be memorable if one got away.

Oh my, they've updated the UI and I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Only if they do it with style, darlin’.

EDIT: Gave this a think. The moral of my story isn’t that I used to gank and that they sometimes got away but that with some skill, grit, and a little bit of luck you might surprise yourself.

Don’t throw your arms up at adversity, folks, even if it appears overwhelming. You can do it.
