No. It doesn't randomize. Asteroids have been static since 1.3. Only reason it appears random when you drop into a some spot in the ring is because your precision at dropping into the same spot is almost nonexistent because of the distances even a slight variation will result in. RESs provide a fixed point that makes mapping possible. So when I say I mapped Bromellite, I mean there were 20+ rocks I could revisit. We did a wing event and mined over 700 units of it in one session. But maps are useful because asteroids refresh after two hours from the time you start mining it and an instance reset.

And yeah, RES types changed up when 3.0 dropped because they made a change to the algorithm, but they changed type quite uniformly everywhere and the positions of them didn't change. So I'm asking about the latter - about factors that are known to cause a system's RESs to become different altogether.

I am out exploring. Jumping neutron stars. I suddenly notice i went from 140ly down to 105 using a neutron star. Fsd is at 98. I have been repairing when it gets to 95. What could cause this drop in distance?

Oh. Never mind. My fsd booster was offline

Osmium is found in pristine metallic rings. Not sure if any of these systems are in or around Colonia but I hope this helps:

if you go to Jacques Station the inner ring on the planet right outside (Colonia 4 if I remember rightly) is metallic and will supply vast amounts of Osmium a mere 2 light seconds from the front door

Select System Reserve: Pristine and Ring Type: Metallic

Enter Colonia or whatever system you're in as Reference System, then sort by distance.

If that doesn't work: the Colonia 4 A and 7 A Rings should be pristine metallic rings.

I have its just my rank being so low from the recent transfer to pc it isn't worth the time unless i am Xeno hunting which is rare for some one to open up multi-crew for
