Orange means the influence is close to another faction. Red means a conflict is pending or is active.

There are weird people like me who fly ugly ships simply because they serve their function. Hell I have a Diamondback that is so beaten up that it looks like a discount toaster but she serves her function. That is the important part.
However we all have our opinions. People insult my ugly ships on a regular basis, the strange looks I get when I thank the person who lobbed the insult is priceless...
Having different opinions and tastes are the Spice of Life. As long as everything stays civil and doesn't get insulting. Because nobody will be 100% right or wrong.

I like both DB and ASP lines, cause they fit slightly different niches. ASP is for the richer people, DB is for the 'budget' guys. HOWEVER, ASP and DB lines have fundamental differences that make each ship unique. While ASP Scout and ASP Explorer have a lot of internals, with ASPX having six hardpoints -- DB Scout and DB Explorer excell in Utility slots, DBS has awesome hardpoint placement for combat and DBX mounts a Large hardpoint weaponry, which is pretty useful with recently introduced Class 3 Missiles.
Myself, I prefer Cobra Mk III due to it being cheap, able to fit any role (in bounds of common sense) or even fit two-three roles at the same time, having a rather good jumprange for a small ship and ability to outrun most unenginereed ships with ease.
