Na'NiIm not saying i wanna hunt people. Thats why im not attacking those doing the cg. I was as stated above by another just curious is there were other risks out there.

Fair enough, so I stand corrected. My sincerest apologies.

Phisto SobaniiOnce credits are no longer an object revisit them. If the excitement of unpredictability is for you, CGs in Open are one of the best places to go.

Boy, ain't that the truth.

Mobanditoi know not to do CG's ever again there is no credits in it to replace what you lose

Mmmm.....that's maybe a bit of a generalization. First, it depends on what type of CG you're participating in. Second, it depends on what ship you choose to use (rebuy costs). Third, it depends on your skill. I have yet to LOSE money on a CG, and I've done support CGs and I've done bounty hunting CGs. I typically do NOT go into it with my most expensive ship. I'm either using my Python (configured for cargo) or my Chieftain (hunter), both of which have reasonable re-buy costs (to me) should I get reckless. And the only time I ever go Solo is if I'm trying to set down on the only medium pad of an outpost and somebody has gone AFK at the pad.

If you're running a cargo or mining CG, always have your evasion tactics at the ready and pay attention to radar. For bounty CGs, they key is don't get greedy. Know when it's smart to go cash in your winnings.

CGs tend to have a relatively low payout compared to other things you could do with your time, but like Scubadog, I make money on them.  That's not why I go, of course, there's better ways to make credits.

Edit: You said earlier your trade cutter wasn't built for fighting. Can you share a build on Coriolis or ED Shipyard? I'm sure someone can offer some help to make it more survivable. If you hop on the discord someone should be able to help in real time (or close to it)

Phisto SobaniiGood on you, Numa.

I’m betting that cargo hatch malfunction was due to heat damage? Just curious.

Would a Pulse Disruptor or a Super Penetrator effect not also have this (desired) effect? Just curious.

Only if shields were down, as far as I know.

Why does this site say that I have not unlocked engineers that I have already unlocked (Farseer, MAtchuk, etc)? I've uploaded my most recent log file but it's not congruent with what I see in game. any way to fix this?

so i guess open play is for fighters only. im a trader my cuter is built for trade not fighting Their rebuy costs are nothing so they have little to lose.

No, Open play is for players who are prepared for other players - that does not necessarily mean fighting.

For my first year in the game, I used to smuggle and trade Rares in a T6 in Open. Fighting would be a foolish option in a T6, so I learned how to escape trouble.

Your Cutter is more than capable of surviving and evading a player attack.

Here's a must-see for every Open player, trader or otherwise:

Mobandito,
The git gud video Kari shared is a classic and absolutely awesome. Once you have the money to do the upgrades in the video, I highly recommend it. In the meantime, if you’re interested in learning more, the best thing you can do is to join a wing and train with them. Alternatively, you can play in open but stay away from community goal events or other places where gankers congregate.

Getting ganked really sucks. Everybody here has been thru it and we all deal with it in different ways. Hang in there and don’t give up. Keep at it and have fun.

I tried a CG in open one time... was a combat CG... took my "combat Cobra" out there... completely un-engineered. Managed to survive long enough to get to a station... Went about as well as you'd expect.

I've used EDMC since I started using Inara, and it's kept my engineer unlocks up to date aside from those I got before I started using EDMC. Dunno how it works with log file uploads, but you can always set your engineer statuses manually in Inara in "Reputation" if you want, among other things.

The log file does not contain information on already unlocked engineers. Therefore, INARA can only update engineers you have contacted that day.

As TheBlueSquid said, you can update engineer status manually.

I have been playing for nearly 2k hours. What in the bubble is a 'Super Penetrator'? And please, this is Elite, not 'Carry on Elite' (though I do have a bit of Sid James about me!) so keep those answers clean, or at least single entendre!

Bolasie, 'Super Penetrator' is a modification for rail guns. It allows them to shoot straight through the hull and damage any modules in the way of the round.

Practically speaking, this means you could sub-target a module and hit it no matter the angle of your foe. You could even shoot someone straight in the ass and blow out their canopy.

Rail-Gun mod special. Damages all modules on its trajectory through the ship it hits. Makes a nice hole.

Thanks guys - very useful as I am just starting to play with Railguns. Thus far I have been a Gimbal boy, but am learning to to be a Fixed Man currently so very useful indeed!
